I believe the tag closes Jan1, depending on unit and whether quotas have been met in certain units

Thank you for all the positive feedback. We were waiting for most of the hunters to clear out. I really enjoy having the place just to ourselves.

I'm headed back next week! They are finding a few nice 160s rams. I'm ready to be in the mountains looking at sheep!

Thanks guys.

Just to give you guys an example. This is a great ram but not enough to hop on a plane.

If we end up with something like this i will be happy but we are looking for bigger. They are out there.

I was 2 days late last time I flew out. Hopefully I'm right on time this trip! IMG_20241211_175336.jpg

Well guys it's done. I got A ram. Right now im feeling frustrated and like I want throw up. This isn't how the best tag in the state was supposed to end up but here we are. For reasons I'll never understand my guide suggested we pass on a couple of 170ish rams in July. I didn't know enough at the time to say hell no and it's something i have to live with. Always remember it's your tag and you make the call. Let the guide make his recommendations. I just trusted the guide. Stupid on my part.

I'll let it all settle in and share how the hunt went down but wanted to share that i killed and it's over.

If you draw a sheep tag in NV and want to go guide give me a call I'll share my full experience.

Beautiful ram, congrats. Don't beat yourself up, you got a lot of days hunting an animal most will never get to.

That’s a beautiful ram. Think back to before you drew this tag and think how happy you would be to have the chance to take the ram you just took in your lifetime. Still an amazing opportunity, I know it’s a bummer and you went through a lot to get him, but hey, it’s hunting

Beautiful mature ram, hopefully your feelings about the journey ripen with age. Sounds like a lot of hard work was put in by all and he’s a cool ram. Score and book are just #s on a page.

Wow. Kills a desert sheep, and is upset and disappointed about it cause it doesn't have some made up number attached to it? Complains to not care about score anymore because it's ruining the experience, then complains it doesn't score enough after killing it. This last update and closure is really disappointing to what should have been an incredible thread with a punched tag or not.

Congrats OP on your ram. No matter what you think or what anyone tells you, he's a sheep of a lifetime. Nobody that sees that ram will be able to tell you if it's a 160 or 170" ram.

That's a great looking ram to me! As a NV resident that has 9 years worth of points and don't know if i'll ever draw here before I move out of state, I would love to have something like that on my wall and the memories to go with it. The Journey wasn't exactly what you wanted or expected, but I am really glad to see that you were still able to get one.

That’s a beautiful ram, congrats. Hunt of a lifetime for sure. Be happy with the whole experience. Pretty awesome you got to see a ton of rams and even got to pass on some bigger ones. But it’s tough when you’re chasing numbers. How old is he and what did he end up scoring ?

I debated even posting that. But it's the raw emotion of how I feel in the moment. The hunt yesterday was awesome. And the stalk was bad ass. I'll post the rest once I have a moment to reflect.

No complaint about the ram i killed. Only the one we passed and the decision i made.

Gross score 164. Solid ram!

Thanks for sharing. I think it’s important that you shared so people can feel the emotion and be prepared to deal with it when they also draw their ram tag some day.

I agree but I also think it's good for folks to see the various thoughts that go through someone's head particularly when they shell out the money for a guide to operate on a tag like this. Makes it clear to me that if I ever had such a tag the decision to just go with friends or internet acquaintances interested in being part and not knowing score to the gnats ass would result in a more rewarding hunt. Maybe leave 10" B&C on the mountain and come away with a more valued experience.
