Silencerco Scythe TI review

Did you pick that up to reduce the pressure hitting the start of the can, thus theoretically making it less likely to fail?
Not sure there is enough difference.

Given I will use the Scythe as a dedicated 223 can at this point, and my 223 is threaded 1/2-28 I figured dropping the adapter would reduce complexity and save a few grams with perhaps a slight change in dB and pressure.

I'm pretty sure none of those are adequate reasons, but at the price I couldn't help myself and had to backfill the why to deny my lack of self control.

Also, let's face it, the Scythe is basically a Barbie for men, change the hair style (end cap), change the shoes (flush mount), dress it up (cover).

I've tried skim reading as much as I can here but its 55 pages...... does anyone have any insight on how much first round pop there is?

How about how many shots you get before mirage?

These are a very light weight tubeless design so they heat up very fast. Expect mirage to show up in the neighborhood of 3 shots

I need some help from professionals! (Not mental help ;) )

I want to put a suppressor on my Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW. It has a 7" barrel chambered in 300 BLK. I intend to only shoot 200 gr subsonic rounds. I thought the Scythe-Ti might be the perfect suppressor. But now I'm worried about potential blow back or the action not cycling properly. The PDW does not have an adjustable gas block.

Has anyone used this can with the PDW or similar AR15 style pistol? Will it work ok and be a good experience? I like this can because I could also move it to my 24" barrel 6.5 PRC hunting rifle as well.

I'm new to suppressors so definitely working above my pay grade.

You will get a good amount of blowback. Frankly most short barreled ARs do even with an adjustable gas block.

Running subs without an adjustable gas block comes at a risk of it not cycling. Depends on the spring and buffer too. Will be the same story with most cans.

Would a flow through type suppressor such as the Velos LBP work better on a SBR without modifying gas, springs or buffer?

I guess I'm still confused about running subsonic 300BLK, regardless of barrel length. Do subs typically need more back pressure to cycle the bcg? If yes, the Scythe-Ti should be fine, correct? So would a low back pressure can possibly not cycle? I was only possibly thinking about a flow through can design to minimize blow back. But cycling the gun is obviously the most important thing I need.

Subs definitely need back pressure to cycle. Typically, they won’t cycle reliably without a suppressor. I don’t use flow through cans for my 300 BLK. I use my TBAC 338 Ultra and it’s been great - no issues with it at all.

Has anyone actually used equipment to see what the difference in DB is with the brake vs. end cap? My buddy put the flush cap on his and after hearing them and shooting them, I left the brake on mine.

I have not. I’m with you on not doing it for the additional suppression. Primary driver for me with the flat cap was just less potential for debris/water infiltration. There’s less to tape for hunting. The single port might be pretty easy to hit with elec tape though. A hair less weight/length doesn’t suck but it’s obviously minimal.

I finally got the chance to shoot my Scythe Ti yesterday. My rifle is a CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel with an 18” PAC NOR barrel. It has a B&L Scope Chief 3-9x40 on it. I have a relatively thick Cole Tac suppressor cover on it. It slightly obscures the bottom of the scope field of view (particularly noticeable on low magnification).

I am fortunate to have an almost identical CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel with the original 24” barrel and the same scope model for comparison. Both rifles are now very close in length and weight.

I used the unsuppressed 527 during deer season this past year with good results, but I was unhappy with the 4x scope I had on it, so I decided to upgrade to the Scope Chief. I had limited time yesterday, so my goal was simply to sight in both rifles.

I kept the brake cap on it and did not test the flat end cap.

My initial impression is very favorable. The unsuppressed rifle is very loud and jumps a lot during recoil. In the location where I was shooting, muzzle blast is noticeable. The Scythe favorably suppressed the noise, muzzle jump, and mitigated the blast. The first shot might have been a trifle louder than subsequent shots. My sense is that it sounds about like shooting an unsuppressed .22 LR with a 24” barrel (which I also did yesterday). I felt like my neighbors probably appreciated me using the suppressor.

I don't have a Scythe but a Ranger with non-removable brake. I was thinking of stretching a condom (non-lubricated) over it for debris and snow.
