Not to derail, but because the sig cross action is so lightweight... if you swap out all the heavy aluminum parts for carbon fiber, you can get it down quite a bit less than a comparable tikka in a chassis. I've got mine down to 5lbs 6oz with the factory 18" 6.5cm (44oz barrel) and 5lbs 2oz with the factory 16.5" 308win barrel. If I get my barrel fluted at LRI using their murder-hornet pattern... (I've got an 18" 6CM barrel they did, and it weighs about 24oz now) the rifle will weigh less than 4lbs... By comparison, I've got a modified HNT26 chassis for my tikka (normally around 30oz) that I got down to 20oz... and even with the fluted superlite barrel cut down to 16" and all the Ti parts and a fluted bolt... the lightest i could get that rifle was about 4lbs 12oz.I know this threads old and sounds like you got a good cross.
But what’s changed IMO since you posted it, is the seekins hunter chassis for tikka.
They can be had for $800 and fold and are between a HNT26 and XLR for weight. They also fold over the bolt much closer to the cross (which is nice).
That plus a “you name it” tikka with a $100 cut and thread and you are sitting about the same price as a cross ($1600 or so depending what tikka deal if the day is). Additionally, my estimate is it will be about 1-1.5 lbs lighter.
All that said, the adjustability and function of the cross is sweet. Their short barrel options from the factory are also nice.
But it’s a closer discussion now I think.

Do you know the weight of the sig action and bolt? No trigger, trigger, lug, or rail? Not to derail, but because the sig cross action is so lightweight... if you swap out all the heavy aluminum parts for carbon fiber, you can get it down quite a bit less than a comparable tikka in a chassis. Sorry, I didn't pull the trigger, etc. But sans barrel, carbon tube foregrip, and my own diy stock, the action is about 36.5oz (which includes an mdt CF grip, lightweight bolt knob, trigger, bolt, rail, and the buffertube adapter i designed for it.)Do you know the weight of the sig action and bolt? No trigger, trigger, lug, or rail?
All diy for the most part... except the MDT CF grip and mdt 3rd mag.You may have it posted somewhere, I haven't checked, but do you have a list of the Cross parts you replaced and what you replaced them with?
I had a Cross in 6.5 a while back but didn't use it much and let it go. I decided to give the Trax in .308 a try with the US OG 30. The shorter forend should work well with the OTB. I had the sig taper ring turned down to .75. I'm going to build up the cheek a bit and likely change the grip. I'd appreciate a list of your replacements if you have time.
