Ready to hit the trail tonight. Only about 45 lbs in this load. Luckily I have already made 2 other trips with 6 gal of water and all my food and dropped it at our camp. Hopefully it's still there when we get up there. Never know with public land hunting. Hopefully sometime in the next five days I will be packing out a nice mule deer with the pack.

Here is my new Duplex frame with a load of my buddy's meat. I couldn't bring myself to put a bloody game bag on my new frame, so I used a garbage bag for a liner.

And here it is with my Timberline attached, loaded with 6 days/5 nights worth of my crap.

Jarheadhunter, does the Outdoorsman pack sit up above your waist, in pics I have seen, it appears to 'dangle' down below the waistline?

Thanks

Here are a couple of pics from my CO archery deer hunt. Used my MR Metcalf pack. So did my buddy. Packs worked great and were very comfortable. Unfortunately, no deer got to take a ride in the pack back to the truck, but had a great time nonetheless! We were packed in for 8 days. Just a hair over 50 lbs for the hike in...

about 80# packs here. in my opinion this is optimum pack weight for these packs. really felt pretty good

Those were way better than the 130# packs we had the night before! Boned out front and back elk quarter and a little trim in each of the above pics.

This probably doesn't count. But we're able to get the elk out in one trip.

I decided to peruse this thread and came to the last post and said to myself, "self, I don't remember posting in this thread".

No, as long as he doesn't ruin my reputation (and me his). I have used BigSky on so many forums I have created an identity and a reputation over the years. Who knows, maybe Big Sky can benefit :) .
