My builder sent this to me today. I can't wait to get my hands on it. The scope is 17.5 oz and is on its way. The whole rig should be under 7 lb. Slightly over with bipod. I also have an AG composite stock coming to add some weight just in case I have trouble shooting this little thing. It's sure going to be lugging the 10 and a half pound elevation MTR around that I've been using.

I just built my first rifle to hunt with my dad but he just past away…

I recently zeroed it in at 100 yards and it’s a tack driver at 1/2 MOA on factory Match ammo. Action is a Big Horn SR3, custom Gunwerks Clymr carbon fiber stock, Hawkins Precision M5 hunter DBM bottom metal & magazines, Proof Research carbon fiber 20” sendero barrel with an Area 419 muzzle break, Hawkins Precision lightweight scope rings with built in level, Nightforce NX8 4x32x50 F1 mil-c reticle, Arisaka 45 mount with Trijicon 7.0 MOA dual illuminated RMR for moving targets. Protected by a Pelican 1720 case.

9.5# not including bipod

This is my go to rifle for everything short of the big bears and bison. Winchester M70 EWSS in 270 Win. Leupold Backcountry rings and a VX3 3.5-10x40. With a Turner Saddlery All Weather sling, it comes in a scoche over 8lbs. I've only elk hunted, unsuccessfully, with a bow though.

Some really nice rifles here. I’ll be the odd guy out and post something a little different. Hey, its the only rifle Ive actually personally shot an elk with!

Pics from a successful deer hunt a few minutes down the road last november. The gun, the prize, and the fun that ensued.

Remington 7600 carbine, 30-06, 2.5-10x scope. 8 1/3lb or so. I added a recoil pad, that makes it “custom”, right? 😁

Forbes I had Melvin do a full treatment and chamber in 280ai. Shoots factory pretty well for a setup that weighs 7lbs all in but working up some test loads now to see what she will do. Leupold VX5 on top.

I also have a Tikka T3 rebored to a 35 Whelen sitting in a McMillan edge with mountain tactical accessories. VX6hd
Both great elk cartridges

I hope your wearing a mouth gaurd when you touch that thing off! Makes my teeth hurt just looking at it.

In the absence of experience, that’s the weird thing about assumptions. They’re often wrong.
That kimber is easier on the shoulder then the browning Abolt 2 in .338 win it replaced and softer recoiling then the tikka m695 in .300 win mag that I owned previously. I had a Husky in .308 win that beat me MUCH harder then that kimber does as well.
There is a lot more to felt recoil then overall weight.
