Should everyone own a 308 hunting rifle?

308 in an ultra light rifle is what I chose. Howa Superlite.

Shorter action, wide variety of bullet weights, bigger bore so comparable rifles are generally a little lighter in 308 than 6mm or 6.5.

Just such a versatile cartridge for reloading. Can go from a 110gr Barnes TTSX for deer and lighter recoil at 3,000-3,250fps, up to 130gr TTSX at 3,150fps, all the way to 150’s, 170’s etc.

Another stereotype light weight sheep cartridge is the 284, which makes everyone smile just looking at it.

I love my 308, it’s taken a bunch of animas over the years and gone on some really cool trips.

Mine is a Kimber Montana, it weighs under 6.5lbs with the scope and silencer on it, it’s been an excellent hunting rifle over the years.

Moose, caribou, deer, goat, a few bears, I don’t hunt with it as much as I used to but I’ll never get rid of it and there’s a few hunts where it’s going to be the go to.
