Playing a favorite game of mine....would you rather:

You get a guaranteed tag in your pocket every September but you can only pick one. You going high country muleys in velvet or screaming bulls? Which one and why?

This isn't even remotely close for me.......elk have always been my passion. But this is also why I would have liked it if the CDOW had made the archery deer season starting August 15 instead of the same as elk season. Still have no idea why they used September 2 for both. It would have been real easy to then hunt muleys in August and elk in September.......perfect fall.

I'm gonna go with September Elk because most Muleys I see don't have any velvet left by September around these parts....

In the spirt of what you are asking, I would probably say mule deer although I seem to be better at finding elk.

If I was to take all factors in to my thinking, I would go elk because I can get an early season archery mule deer tag pretty much every year close to home but elk takes about 10 points so there is that.
