Elk or Deer?

Guess I'll be the odd man out and say mule deer. I think they taste better than elk (heresy, I know) and are just more interesting to me.
Got my first one this past fall, 5.5 yr old according to taxidermist. He tasted like ground pepper, piss, and testosterone…. Took him to a Midwest meat place effectively trading it for corn fed white tail 😂😂😂

Elk by a long shot..they eat better, they bugle, they piss all over themselves, they are regal and when you walk up to a big bull your in awe👊

In my opinion nothing can quite compare to hunting the bugling bulls in September. Just getting the chance to arrow one is good enough for me but the grey ghost is also lots of fun!! Both hunts definitely have their own challenges, just hunt the one that trips your trigger! Can’t go wrong hunting either one of those great species!!!

Elk for the same reason many others have already said; they’re tastier to me.

Really depends on unit and year. I always see the opposite of what I’m after. Good Mule deer in September are tough to get on with a bow

Deer for me. Elk just don't do it for me. Maybe because they are herd animals, damn tough to hunt and being solo most of the time, damn hard to butcher and pack out. I think high country early season bucks are better tasting! None of my 4 early season bucks have been tough or gamey. All but a calf elk I've shot or been given are below expectation of how much better they are supposed to be than deer. Bugling bulls sounds fun but I love hunting early season bucks in the high country!

I love both. In the rut elk are more exciting. Mule deer are far more frustrating. Old ones anyway. Personally I don't classify 300 bull or 170 buck as old
