Elk or Deer?

Hunting is one thing. Packing out is a whole new ball game.

Both are fun. I prefer high country bucks.

Smaller. More nimble. Generally Harder to find, especially a monster.

Mule deer. A big mule deer is my white buffalo, I would all but quit hunting anything else if I could figure out big deer. After reading Robby’s book 4 times on my cruise this last week, that’s probably exactly what I’m going to do.

In y’all’s opinion what would you rather hunt, elk in September or high country mule deer what would y’all consider easier. Not just any rag horn elk or mule deer I’m talking about 300”+ bulls and 170”+ deer
In September it's gotta be elk. I've lived in elk country my when life and devoted at least 75% of my fall to them for 26 years. Imo there's nothing that compares to chasing bugling bulls in Sept.

Elk for me. For someone like me who is from the east coast, hunting elk is like taking the best parts of turkey hunting and the best parts of deer hunting and combining them together. Plus elk eat better than deer IMO. The vocalization makes elk hunting superior.

I use to be all about elk but anymore I find myself more excited for deer hunts. And any one who says elk taste better hasn’t eaten a September mule deer from the high country. 😁

Elk, every day all day. I archery hunt been chasing them for 27 years. It has been amazing.

Something I've thought about often.

Elk are better eating, but I'm a mule deer guy at heart. If I had to choose one - deer. Still looking for that wall hanger.
