I got an invite to hunt near Aberdeen, South Dakota for snow geese on April 1-3. I haven't ever hunted there and am wondering how those dates are for timing? Any advice?

"were"? I still got that goin on in my area. Hell during major migration time I MIGHT see 1 or 2 other spreads in a 20mile radius from us. After the first big push is gone might as well be an alien the way everyone looks at you when you as permission to hunt a field. The golden days were when everyone figured it was over once the peak migration passed and you didn't have swarms of people competing for the little late juvy pockets..
They are and will continue to jump my area... we are in a major drought so all of our marshes are dry. We have seen plenty of migrators but haven't seen a single bird in a field yet.I get a kick out of the guys saying they are going to jump whole states etc. There are birds strung out down into AR. There will be big groups migrating birds to hunt in SD until at least mid April and small pockets to search for until the end of season. I will be heading to ND in the next couple weeks.
Most everybody panics and charges out to hunt the leading migration of birds. wait a week or so and the hunting normally gets much better.

spot on, the best hunting is when the main migration is over and all the weekend warriors went home. It may take an extra couple tanks of gas to find the juvie pockets but its all worth it.I get a kick out of the guys saying they are going to jump whole states etc. There are birds strung out down into AR.
