Scope Evaluation Donation

Interested to see if a VX5HD fails as hard as the others. Just wondering if it would still be covered under warranty if the testing sends it to be with Jesus. If so, I could part with a 3-15x44.

I'll speak out of turn here.

It’s not worth testing more vortex or leupys. They fail. Spectacularly. Every time. It’s not worth the ammo expenditure to continue beating a dead horse. There are other scopes that need testing. If the flagship model can’t even pass what hope is there for the lesser models.

Since its an inherent design flaw with the scopes Leupy or others will say something like replaced erector. The scope will not work better though. But they will "warranty" it and send it back. Then you sell it and buy a scope that is a known performer.

Our issue isn’t in time or ammo, it’s in not having scopes to evaluate. People don’t believe that what Mark 5’s or VX3 HD’s do, is what a VX5 or VX6 will do. The more scopes evaled the better.

Right now we currently have in ongoing evaluation-

Trijicon credo 3-9xx
Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x (almost complete)
SWFA UL 2.5-10x (difficult to get use on it)
ZCO 4-20x
Zeiss LRP S3

IIRC that’s it. None of that affects doing the initial eval on new scopes.

I offered to send out my Leupold VX-3HD 2.5-8X36 CDS-ZL DUPLEX scope for testing. Would love to see how it does.

No interest in my Sig Sauer Electronic reticle scopes? Would be interesting to test loss of zero on a reticle that is significantly different than traditional. Maybe you've tested them before and they're junk but I didn't see them listed...

He let me know last month it would be of interest, been waiting on an address.

Absolutely. Contact Ryan.

I offer the VX5HD for that exact reason. I WANT to believe they’re different because I’ve got 4 and none have had problems. Granted, they’ve had pretty easy lives. Given Leupold’s huge market share, I think it would be great to have data on each line to settle the question for a lot of folks like me that have enough cash tied up that we don’t want to admit we might need to make some changes.

After reading through the tests though, I’ll admit, I bought a 2.5-15x42 Credo HX and a 3-9x40 Credo to mount up for the season. My wife isn’t amused.

I’ve been helping people dial in their equipment more than normal this year. How much $$$ do I need to donate to never have to say “I don’t trust scopes in general and maybe your’s in particular” ever again?

Last number ryan publicly said is he and form have 25k of their personal $ in it on one of the shoot2hunt podcasts.

I think the answer is as much as your comfortable donating to the cause.

Yes, send it if you want. We want to do as many as possible.

The reports of there being issues at their own Sig hunter games (or whatever they called it), waching corey jacobson airmail some rounds over the back of an elk and placing blame on bdx, my experience just bluetooth syncing new ballistic profiles into a sig AB range finder, and how much basic mechanical scopes tend to struggle with reliable function is enough to not consider bdx for me. The fact that the bdx schtick is a sales pitch to people who want to shortcut learning ballistics and long range shooting through time and practice is a giant cherry on top.
