SBR for bear defense

Would appreciate seeing/hearing about your experiences killing game with that cartridge. What barrel length?
12.5” barrel. I haven’t taken an animal with, but have no concerns. Got quite a few friends that have taken moose and bear with.

Our moose last year was harvested by my daughter with 6.5cm.

I carry the socom and the 6.5 and our goal is whoever gets the shot gets the shot.

I use 325ttsx with the socom. It’s a blast to shoot and very accurate.

If it's just for bear defense, why not bring a more powerful rifle. If it's brown bears, you want penetration. Why run an expanding bullet? Everyone who does shit or knows shit in brown bear country runs either a real rifle, a shotty with non expanding slugs or a pistol with hard cast rounds. Expansion is not what you want. If it's black bears, anything 9mm and up is fine with hard cast bullets. Black bears are chumps.

The one thing about hunting with an AR that I noticed. Man do they get cold. I'd probly vet wrap that shit next time I use one.
So true.

On all my recent builds I have used carbon fiber hand guards for this very reason.

Are bears hard to penetrate?

Wouldnt a wide wound have better odds of cns hit than a narrow one?

And which "real rifle" is as easy to carry and shoot quickly as an AR based SBR?
