Sauer 100 special edition 9.3x62

@Q_Sertorius Have you considered getting your 9.3 threaded for a suppressor? Any chance you could tell me the outside diameter of that barrel?

The Sauer 100 in 9.3x62 appears to be approximately 0.685 at the muzzle. That should be enough for a 5/8x24, but it is possible that a smith will want 9/16x24.

I got my Tikka cut to 20” and threaded for a suppressor. The Tikka had to be cut because it had a brake cut/drilled into the last couple of inches of the barrel. I bought a .375 AB Raptor 10 for it. The Tikka is a bit longer than I would like at roughly 27” overall. My smith threaded it 9/16x24, so I had to use an adapter. I might get it cut even shorter.

I plan to cut at least a couple of inches off the Sauer, but I want to have some idea how much velocity I will lose doing that. I need to shoot the Sauer and the Tikka over a chronograph. If it seems feasible, I will probably cut the Tikka to 16-18” and the Sauer to 20”.

I think the FE Sauer Exception is a very pretty rifle. It has open sights, a red pad, and a nice stock. I don’t know that it’s necessarily worth what they’re asking.

On recoil. Factory loaded it’s not that much more than a 30-06 heavily loaded. Now heavy loads pushing 60k psi (286gr 65gr RS Big game 2500fps) in a light gun is sporty! My zastava weighs 8.25 pounds all up and recoils heavily with those loads. It is something I have to train to master but it is doable.
