Which bag? K4 3600 or Teratorn?

I have a new K4 frame. Currently have a 5000 bag on it that I got in a trade deal. I’m wanting to switch bags to either a 3600 or a Teratorn. I primarily do day hunts in November in Montana, but I typically pack an extra layer or two for different conditions, and there’s always the chance that we end up going for elk in some bad weather. I know the 3600 would handle most of what I do without issue, but could see it getting tight if we’re gearing up die bad weather and/or elk hunting in cold conditions. Is there Teratorn just going to be too much excess to deal with on day hunts?

You already have a 5000, so there is no reason to buy a 3600 or a Teratorn for your needs. I have a 5000 and a TT, and have used the 3600 for several years. While I think the TT is a great bag, it's not needed for most hunters unless you are doing cold-weather, multi-day hunts, and even then, your 5000 will get the job done.

Agree with the above, Teratorn is a sweet bag for cold weather hunts where you take a bunch of stuff. I mean really cold weather. I’ve done 7 day October elk hunts and plan on doing a 10 day September deer hunt with my 3600 this year. If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t ship 😂

Teratorn is pretty versatile / I just tuck the wings in and cinch it down for day stuff - then pop it all out when I want bring a full load of gear.

There’s nothing the 3600 does that the 5000 doesn’t do similarly or better, especially for later season hunts. Weight difference is a non issue and there’s not enough additional fabric on the 5000 to make it inconvenient to use as a day pack. And the horseshoe zipper is much more useful for accessing the bag. I have no experience with the teratorn but my main reason for not owning one currently is it doesn’t sound like a great day pack. Keep what you have and spend the money elsewhere.

Now if S2H would work with Exo on some wings that were plug and play to their smaller bags, that would be worth looking at.
