Rumors of Another Shutdown

Curious what kind of masks you are referencing? The trendy ones or the ones that actually protect against a virus? The trendy ones seem to be socially acceptable. Science tells a different story. To stay strong common sense needs to used on occasion. If that means people wearing underwear on their face so others feel good then go for it...lol.

I'd say 40-50% were surgical style masks, another 40% were well fitted cloth masks with ear loops and good facial covering, and the rest were a mix of bandanas, neck gaitors, and random shit. But I was still impressed with the number of people keeping them on

Was just in summit county over the weekend, people from all over the US and the world were visiting Vail, Frisco, and Keystone. Not nearly as many as a normal year but still plenty of people. Mask use was fairly universal even outside in outdoor common places.

If they stay strong on masks I think they will help curb things and not institute a full shutdown. I think everyone prefers the inconvenience of a mask vs the inconvenience of a shut down so it seemed like it was being accepted well and utilized.
Soooo, are we convinced that the only reason it’s spreading again is because of the people not wearing masks? Not the major uptick in testing? How’s the death rate doing and how inaccurate is it? How are the hospitals doing with the big surge of Covid patients? Does anyone actually listen to the doctors and nurses working with these patients, or do we just listen to politicians and paid off scientists?

These are all questions we should be asking ourselves , and hopefully use our own thoughts to get answers for. If we continue to listen to the news and the politicians we will have nothing but incorrect answers for this very important test in our lives.

This virus is extremely dangerous!! I had it 3 weeks ago. Caught from a co-worker. Took me nearly 6 days to get over it. Felt fine during the day, but at night i had body aches and chills. Coughing periodically. Really rough! I didnt almost die. I was terrified the entire time. I was concerned i wouldnt be able to fish the following weekend. But, i did, it was all good. This is not a fake news post entirely. It is dangerous for some, but not most.

Here in Colorado the news keeps reporting this huge surge in cases over the last several weeks, yet we are still only sitting at a 0.7% infection rate statewide. Ya, that's right.......0.7%. And in my county they are reporting that we are the 2nd highest county for increases.........sitting at a whopping 0.5% infection rate. So after 6 months our county has almost 4200 cases. At this rate it would take our county 89 YEARS for everyone to be infected. Perhaps they should start using math instead of their so-called science for their decision making.

numbers can be stubborn... science, less so.

Turn off the news until November, 2nd week to be exact and you’ll then see these kinds of numbers being used.

No doubt, the map of virus surges tends to align with areas with your sentiment.

Oh you mean like here in MN where they just mandated it even without the almighty surge? Where the Governor used it as a bargaining chip in a bonding bill. Must not be that effective if he can wait until he gets the votes he wants or just does it any ways.

Read the Writing on the Wall People 99.3% - 99.5% of Americans are perfectly Healthy.

I know a couple that are two of the absolute unhealthiest people around.........obese, diabetes, heart problems with multiple different heart procedures, HBP, asthma.........you name it. They both tested positive a few weeks ago and didn't even know they had it. They're back at work now and never even had a complication. It's weird how it affects or doesn't affect so many.

Wonder if they actually had it or just tested positive? It's reported that with rapid testing at least they are only 80% effective with people throwing positives and negatives on the same day...And let me guess which number they are sure to report.

Any mask you mentioned above has zero evidence of preventing infection.

Think transmission, not infection.

But, as to infection:

"A meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials of pre‐COVID‐19 showed that surgical masks or N95 respirators reduced clinical respiratory illness in health‐care workers by 41% and influenza‐like illness by 66%"

Interesting case study:

"Still incipient results from studies reinforce this strategy. In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic in China, an investigation report of post-exposure transmission in public transport was published. A man infected and coughed took two buses; he didn't wear a mask on the first vehicle, but he did on the second. In the first bus, 5/39 passengers became infected, while in the second, no infection was detected, after investigation and two-week follow-up of all 14 passengers by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention - CDC ). 14 "

I'm going to start in unit 521 since I have experience there, but also have places marked in unit 53. I know it will probably be crowded, but I felt like it was time to go back to the mountains. First time solo which will be a good test for me.

There were 2 hair dressers in MO who worked while symptomatic but wore masks. They did 139 appointments and of the ~40 people who were tested not one came back positive and no one reported getting COVID afterwards. While anecdotal, it is pretty compelling evidence that masks work.

More testing equals more positives but our hospital and ICU numbers have tracked at the same rater are high for summer.

I have five family members who are positive and two are in their early forties. One of those was hospitalized and only one is better. Had a friend's coworker die of COVID. Mid-fifties, reasonable good health other than occasional smoker. It's real.
