Ruidoso fire

Horrible, I have been texting a friend that has a ranch that borders the Mescalero, he has been sending me pictures. He said he was staying tonight, I told him him no way I would stay.

Apparently it started on the Mescalero per KRQE. Some of the local Facebook pics are terrifying.

Been following this one. The South Fork really escalated quickly in the past 24.

Terrible conditions for containment with Temps in the 80s, humidity of 8% and 20-30 mph winds.

There's two active fires and a new one started with no info yet.

Lots going on, praying for the fire fighters and people of the area.

Went from less than 4K to over 15k acres over night. Lots of folks from Roswell taking trucks and trailers and grabbing livestock, etc. going to need all the help available.

That area was hit with a bad fire about 12 yrs ago and you still see the burnt trees on slopes. I hope they get all the assistance they can including military to attack this fire.

Yup, they just started to replant a couple years ago from the 2012 Little Bear fire. That was a monster which permanently scared the landscape.

Hopefully they can slow it down and hold the line until the rains come. That's a hard task with another fire burning and two started this morning in the area.

Yeah, there are currently three fires in that immediate area.

Big fire in the north end of the Gila and one up north of the Caldera, which I think is basically petered out with rain recently.

That does really suck. Ruidoso is a cool town. Some people in Gavilan Canyon just lost there houses 2 years ago.

this is a sunset photo i made tonight in carrizo springs, texas. I'm fairly certain the stark shadow is from the riudoso smoke plume 600 miles from here. damn nature you scary (but beautiful).

looks like maybe 1400 structures lost so far.. map makes it look like its missed some friends places so far. be interesting to see what it looks like in september. Hopefully rain soon.

Wind is really cranking up here in Santa Fe, still looking like a good chance of rain tomorrow!
