Lots of banter about quality and cosmetics. Here is a real example and my thoughts.
I was a day one order. I ordered a LE green (waiting on still) and a bare carbon. I ordered the bare carbon with intentions to cerakote in the future once full rifle was is in hand. At the time of ordering there was no discussion of bare carbon being more difficult to produce but I can understand that paint can hide flaws. I would expect that to be to cover up patching & filler if there are voids after the mold is pulled.
My stock looks great except the other day I discovered this void. It is apparent there is a bubble in the resin that I’ve popped thru limited use. I was practicing positions in the garage when I found it. It’s about as deep as wide for reference. This isn’t something that paint would cover, but paint could hide a repair of it. My intention is to try and patch it with some epoxy because I don’t want to wait for a replacement stock.
Am I happy about this blemish? No, but I’m also not too upset about it because the stock is about 1/2 what comparable stocks are from Manners/McMillan. Many of you need to realize you can’t expect champagne on a beer budget!
I am anxious to receive my long overdue LE green stock. I’m setting my expectations at 50/50 that it has similar flaws. I really hope not because it’s not intended to be painted.
