Rokslide Approved LPVO?

I’m a hunter and am only interested in scopes for hunting purposes. That said, why FFP in a LPVO? Are the reticles just generally better (more visible) at lower powers than they are on full sized optics? What advantage does FFP offer in a low power scope used for shorter distance shooting?

Seems a SFP for just 1-4x or 1-6x would be better. What am I missing?

I actually agree with you most of the time, I just have found myself a few times now in situations with a 1-6 SFP, hunting large moving (walking) targets (brown bear) where due to the terrain, semi-brief shot opportunities in a situation where I had a chance to range landmarks ahead of time, (the trajectory of 270-300gr 375 bullets out of a short barrel affects this too) it would have been nice to dial down to 3.5x-4x ish and be able to do quickly either shoot ‘dead on’ the bear that could pop out of the brush at the bottom of a drainage/alder patch at 60ish yards or holdover 1.6 mils or so quickly if it pops out at 320 yds and gives an opportunity, or anywhere in between, without dialing or adjusting magnification or thinking about correction factors in reticle. Accordingly, Im still experimenting with an NX8 currently, which is not as quick to peep thru as the 1-6 Accupoint.

I suppose in this example with a 1-6 Accupoint mildot, I could have zoomed out to 3.75x mag and eyeballed my holdover to be somewhere between 0 and 1 mil (up close to 320 yards) and still been pretty deadly.
Also could spend more time practicing on 6x at shorter range shots

Is that what you use/prefer, the Mildot reticle?

I have used a Vortex Razor Gen 2 1-6 pretty extensively over the last 3 years. I have not done a super scientific drop test but have been through numerous carbine classes, matches and banging around the woods. Im hard on gear and do not baby my tools. I have had zero issues with it and has always held zero. The BDC marks line up great out of my gun with both 55gr pmc and 77 grain SMK. The 1x magnification is as close to a true 1x I have seen on a LPVO (large eye box, minimal scope shadow etc). Not quite red dot 1x, but as close as any I have looked through (nightforce, eotech, trijicon, PA).
Im not a huge Vortex fan but they got it right with this one.

Agreed. If you can afford the razor do it, if not I wouldn’t hesitate to get their more economical options. If it’s not a “duty” rifle those will do fine.

Yep, I use mils on everything else, and unlike the 3-9 the 1-6, 2.5-12.5, 4-16 AP have matching reticle/adjusters.
That’s one other way the Triji 1-6 beats out the NX8 a little IMO, .1 mil vs .2 mil adjustments.
.2 isn’t a deal breaker, but there are times when zeroing my selective OCD flares up a little haha
