I actually agree with you most of the time, I just have found myself a few times now in situations with a 1-6 SFP, hunting large moving (walking) targets (brown bear) where due to the terrain, semi-brief shot opportunities in a situation where I had a chance to range landmarks ahead of time, (the trajectory of 270-300gr 375 bullets out of a short barrel affects this too) it would have been nice to dial down to 3.5x-4x ish and be able to do quickly either shoot ‘dead on’ the bear that could pop out of the brush at the bottom of a drainage/alder patch at 60ish yards or holdover 1.6 mils or so quickly if it pops out at 320 yds and gives an opportunity, or anywhere in between, without dialing or adjusting magnification or thinking about correction factors in reticle. Accordingly, Im still experimenting with an NX8 currently, which is not as quick to peep thru as the 1-6 Accupoint.
I suppose in this example with a 1-6 Accupoint mildot, I could have zoomed out to 3.75x mag and eyeballed my holdover to be somewhere between 0 and 1 mil (up close to 320 yards) and still been pretty deadly.
Also could spend more time practicing on 6x at shorter range shots
