Enjoy your spit burgerI give the same tip to all waiters, get a new job. I read the other day, tipping is on it's way out.
I agree that the access has to remain equal for the resources to be considered public.I agree with the sentiment, but it doesn't hit home.
The basis of public goods is to allow equal access to all regardless of wealth/social status. i.e. - I can go to the local park/library etc and have equal access as the Mayor or the billionaires.
If we only allowed people to hunt if they contribute to supply (ie conservation) you may as well privatize hunting fully. Ultimately you would end up with a system that only rewarded the top contributors with the limited tags.
Regarding habitat conservation - how do we overcome the challenges of public land grazing? why should it be the hunters responsibility to correct the overgrazing via habitat conservation? why arent we holding those offenders with the responsibility to correct? Same could be said for the urbanization of wintering habitat and migration corridors.
Two kids are at the playground. What gets old is people comparing white tails to the limited number of animals and habitat we have.

Most of the people who work in the chain restaurants know they are in dead end jobs, so my tip to find a new job is a sound one. And by the way if you do eat out a lot, you have more than likely had something on your food you would not want to know about. People do it just because they can and they think it's funny. Maybe their boss gave them a hard time, so you get a little something extra with you special sauce.Enjoy your spit burger
Two kids are at the playground.
Eastern kid says "This playground is pretty fun but I would love to go to Disney World some day".
Western kid "I live in Orlando and we have season passes to Disney. It totally sucks. I can only go on most of the rides and I even have to wait in line sometimes. You wouldn't understand."
That’s spot on. Idaho is getting ready to start open houses for the next 2 years of seasons. There is no shortage of residents bitching about how IFG manages the animals. I would venture less than 100 people will turn out for the meeting in Nampa.
That's like telling a fat person they need to lose weight. You think the average waiter doesn't realize they are pretty far down on the food chain? They are literally bringing you things they ask for. You are the type of classless person that makes waiting such a hard job. Most of the people who work in the chain restaurants know they are in dead end jobs, so my tip to find a new job is a sound one. You can’t compare whitetails equally to muleys/elk simply because you can hunt whitetails in pretty much every state but there are plenty of states that don’t have muleys and even less that have elk.I totally understand, I lived in the east coast for a couple years and it was eye opening. I chose to live where I do and have no complaint about guys coming here from other states to hunt when they draw a tag.
I don’t care if you can get 10 whitetail tags 2 raccoon permits and unlimited skunks on the east coast for $60 as a non resident. The demand for our animals won’t allow the same.

Sorry to tell you but the commercialization has helped game across the world. We have very good ranching friends in WY that in the 60s 70s and into the 80s (and definitely earlier) would shoot Antelope on site as they were seen as pests and competition for grass with cattle, as most ranchers saw them and were also doing. Guess what happened when people started to be willing to pay to hunt antelope. All of a sudden they were "worth" something and they no longer viewed them the same.I am disappointed in what has become the commercialization of our sport. It is not helping any of us or the game. Our sport has become a for profit business. The dynamics and outlook of the hunters I grew up and hunted with as a younger man are near extinction. Etiquette and respect of others is fading away. It is now all for me and F the other guy. Everyone wants instant gratification, to be famous or to be a social media influencer all in the name of money and popularity. Pretty sad if you ask me.
Others mileage may vary
That’s not cool at all.was referring to tag/permit quantities.
For example, say the quota area i prefer to hunt has 100 permits available. You as a NR and i as a R apply for the same permit. Theoretically, all 100 permits could all go to NR if the demand was such and the R hunters didnt have enough pref points to draw.

Why not? We got a population of 23 million, maybe a million hunters. Shitty little 3-5-day seasons and low success rates. Noone in their right mind wants to hunt deer here. No problem w not separating the R and NR.That’s not cool at all.
FLAre you in Washington?

You hunt public in Texas for 170+? You can't draw Haggerman every year?my applications alone out west cost more then my TX lease.
Texas was deeded well before the west even hit statehood.
$3k for year round recreation, fishing and hunting on 11k acres. MLD with unlimited does and culls for kids, so a 4-5 month season. we dont have giant deer but who cares we have lots of animals to hunt. tons of dove, quail, ducks, turkeys and cranes
there is over a million acres of public hunting in TX with much of it only needing $49 public use permit.
I find it funny, someone will drive 12 hrs to another state, buy a 700 plus tag plus 2k in gear and then complain about TX public. That is just lazy.
I hunt public for monsters(170” plus), and use the lease for the kids, since it has way more opportunity then my own place.
not trying to be unsympathetic but I own a sizable ranch/farm with very limited numbers of MD and WT’s and I lease and hunt public.
