Any of you guys every noticed any real difference between these two for deeper snow or other off-road situations? Hoping to buy one of them new next week. I can’t decide

I own both a ram 1500 and 2500. I run mud tires on both trucks and can tell u I won't be running mudders next time. They feel like Ice skates on snow packed highways. With the weight difference of the 2500 it does do better in the snow, I've been in 3ft plowing through it. But I'd want to throw some weight in the back of my 1500. Granted the 1500 ram does have about 400 hp to give you a boost in a sticky situation.

If I had to choose between those two it would be a Ram Rebel I believe it comes with lockers...

The bighorn is a great truck. Lots of standard options. That would be my choice. I’ve spent a lot of time driving both in 2020 models.

I bought a 17 ram a few weeks back. Haven't really done anything with it so far but it was difficult finding one with the "anti-spin rear differential" which is I believe the ram name for the LSD.

No experience with the chevy.

I know that the transmission in the ram is junk and so is the suspension. We had them as
Fleet trucks and they get put through it and the ram is at least better than the ford ( over priced beer can I have a 2019 now). My personal rig is. 2019 Silverado, my dad has a 2018 Silverado and bro in law has a 2020 Silverado. Bro in law got tired of fixing his ram. Go chevy don’t buy junk. I have done mountain roads Georgia clay and all
In street tires in my Chevy

the chevy all the way. the last 2 I had 200,000 miles when I give them to the grand kids and still going strong. I had 2 friends buy rams the same time I got my last one and both lasted 2 years and were gone.

No it’s not personal opinion. At least on my front. We have had a fleet of silverados, fleet of rams, fleet of now ford and they are starting pull Silverado back in to get away from the junk. My starter on my 19 ford is already hanging up at 45000 miles along with 60% of the others too. My wife also owns a 17 equinox that is flawless

I’ve got a 2015 Ram 1500 Bighorn and it’s been a great truck. I bought it new and have almost 150k on it. So far the only thing I’ve had to do to it was a new radiator and exhaust manifold bolts, which are an issue but not that big of a deal to me. Other than that just normal maintenance. It’s done fine in the mud and snow for me.

My RAM rebel was the main reason why I was successful on a December cow hunt last year. It plowed though 2’ of snow to get me back with a reasonable distance of the elk.

I have a 19 Ram, 23k miles, great truck so far. The off road group gets you a rear electric locker, skid plates, 1" taller, and a couple other things. Last year in nasty mud and snow it did very well, even without the locker engaged.
I came from a Silverado 2wd drive, great truck, son has it now. I was going to get a new Silverado but Chevy was just too proud of them at the time price wise.
To get dual lockers in the Ram you need to buy a Powerwagon.

Had my 2014 1500 for almost 3 years now with very minimal issues. Had to get the manifold bolts replaced as another user stated but that was covered. Also had a couple of rust bubbles form (Minnesota roads) and those were covered under warranty as well. I'm glad I went with the Ram based on those warranty issues. Saved my ass on the repair costs. If I had a Chevy with the same year I probably would have been SOL. I think Chrysler shortened the longer power train warranty after 2016 though.

Both seem to have their fair share of problems, but in the end I went with Ram based on a slightly lower price, a little more power and better interior options. I fluid filmed my under carriage and all the vital areas where you typically see rust too. Still in awesome condition compared to other used trucks I see around. I have the 5.7L Hemi and it's been super reliable, but if I had a choice I'd get the 3.0L Eco-diesel. More torque and way better gas mileage. That thing is amazing.
