Ram 1500 vs Silverado 1500

I have owned them all. When I was looking for a new truck I drove them all and went with the ram 1500 with the air suspension.

and in comparing them it wasn’t even close- i was a bit surprised. I never thought I would be driving a ram truck.

Now how it holds up over the long-haul and whether it can compete with my Toyota‘s or Ford‘s I don’t know I only have 20,000 miles on this one

I own 3 trucks right now: 82 Toyota 4wd pickup, 08 Tacoma and a 20 Ram Rebel . The rebel is an amazing 4wd truck for the size, has ~400hp and gets better mileage than the Tacoma. IMO, The chevy is lacking in hp and offroad capabilty in stock trim. The colorado might be a good choice if you can get by with a midsize. The bison ZR2 is well equipped and seems very capable.

A dodge cost me a bull one year. Massive POS.

The tie rod end broke on a mild dirt road. The guy who passed me while I was jerry-rigging it killed the bull I put to bed the evening before.

Chevy is a higher quality vehicle. Can’t speak to which one has better 4wd technology

I had to lemon law a 19 Silverado, was test driving a replacement and the tranny blew... No thanks.

My personal opinion is that the chevys seem more mechanically sound and the locking rear differential should be a plus. The 5.7 Hemi has more power than chevy’s 5.3 and most everything online says new Rams have better interiors and a more comfortable ride. I leased a 2016 gmc and like it a lot

Thats odd🤔🤔🤔 i bet the 6.2 chevy has more power than the 5.7

I have a 2014 Ram. It’s okay. I just hope it lasts 10 years. At 50,000 I discovered the dreaded broken exhaust manifold bolts. What a POS. Not only do they make a piss poor design, they refuse to make a permanent fix. Rather than tapping and replacing bolts every 30k, I spent $800 and 12 miserable hours putting on shorty headers and stainless bolts to permanently fix the problem. It’s probably the last ram I’ll buy. Plus for me, seats are terrible! The next truck I buy will be a Toyota.

The new model of Ram 1500 can have a rear locker added with the "off road package". The Rebel automatically comes with that. The GM product does not have a true locked rear diff. The salesmen will tell you it does "lock". It will hopefully send enough power when there is enough wheel spin.

The 5th gen Ram transfer case with the 4 auto is better than the 4th gen, but still uses clutches. The Rebel transfer case is a better unit for true offroading.

I have the same G80 limited slip in my 2003 Tahoe that GM has been using forever and I promise you it doesn't take much wheel spin to get it to lock up. I can fish tale anytime I want and have been going places I probably shouldn't be for a long time. :) To the tune of 276,000 miles.
