Ram 1500 vs Silverado 1500

I have a 2014 Ram. It’s okay. I just hope it lasts 10 years. At 50,000 I discovered the dreaded broken exhaust manifold bolts. What a POS. Not only do they make a piss poor design, they refuse to make a permanent fix. Rather than tapping and replacing bolts every 30k, I spent $800 and 12 miserable hours putting on shorty headers and stainless bolts to permanently fix the problem. It’s probably the last ram I’ll buy. Plus for me, seats are terrible! The next truck I buy will be a Toyota.

Maaaan, you aren’t kidding. The 4WD is almost impossible! I ended up having to just bend the dipstick tube to get the driver side header in. You can’t actually remove the dipstick bolt without raising the motor. Took me 4 hours to figure that out. I was pooping bricks when I was bending the dipstick tube. I knew it was going to be super expensive if I broke it. If I could have driven my truck about 8 hours into the project, I probably would have taken it to a dealership and just traded it in.

Ive never really been a Chevy or a Dodge fan. Spending a big part of my life in automotive, and turning wrenches for a decent part, Dodge/Chrysler has always been very unique. There failures are hard to diagnose as they are unique, most manufactures are predictable and have common failures. HOWEVER, for you Chevy fans, GM has had transmission issues with their 1/2 ton trucks for 25 years. For each their own. In my opinion, Dodge simply makes a better truck and cars. GM cars and trucks feel cheap and have terrible reliability. Additionally, the Dodge interior is by far superior to any other make. To me, it is an easy choice - Dodge. If the Tundra would refresh their look, I would easily choose Toyota over the Dodge. I just think Chevy is making the worse truck out of all of them. Maybe they threw all their resources in developing the C8.
