I got a set this Friday. The top is 15 oz., but I don't know the weight of the trouser. They are definetly lighter than the jacket. My jacket packs down to just a little larger than a coke can.

How do they fit? What's the quality like? Durability? I am very interested, I may just pull the trigger and order a set

I just ordered a set in universal. For the price I can take a chance that it's top quality and if not , $80 a set to my door for goretex rain gear is good for import quality so I don't think I can loose.

You can lose if you are in the backcountry in a rain storm and the stuff falls apart in the brush after 15 minutes. I would never skimp on rain gear. Being wet sucks, as well as can be very dangerous.

I was just going to put it in my pack without opening 'cause I know it's the best...NOT ! I'm thinking that American made originally for the military wil probably be decent but not the best and if it's too light duty for the backcountry then I can still use it for work.

The set I have (large) are true to size and they are made for layering (don't order larger than your normal size). I have no idea how durable they are because I just got them, but they feel similar to the sitka stormfront rain gear. Much more substantial than the cabela's space rain gear.

As I already stated, you won't find a better deal. This is made in the U.S.A. for the military. It sure feels like quality to me. It is a little noisy, but most rain gear is. It even has infrared blocking technology in case the game your hunting has infrared vision...so that is cool.

I've been using the cabelas space rain set the last couple years and have no complaints. I haven't used it in a hunting situation since I bought it but I've used it a ton while spring bass fishing in some good rains. It has kept me dry every time. It's super light and packs down to nothing. Its also pretty cheap compared to most other rain gear. Having said that many reviews have said its not the most durable rain gear out there. Like I said its really light, therefore it's also very thin and I can see it tearing fairly easy if you snagged it on the brush.

For some cheap UL raingear in camo, this is the way to go. I upgraded last year to a set of Chugach, which is a large improvement in durability, but I used my Space Gear for backpacking for a couple seasons without fail. Just baby the Space Gear and you will be fine. It generally doesn't rain to much in the Rocky's. :)

Another vote for Cabelas Space Rain. Light and packs down to nuthing. And you can catch it in the bargain cave and get it for very cheap.

Actually, if your plan is to wait out the rain and then move on with your hunt then a poncho, like mdog mentioned on the previous page, is probably your best option and will get you under cover from the elements the fastest. It is also a multi-tasker piece of gear which is also nice.

I recieved my epropper rain gear and it sure feels like quality. Fabric looks to be ripstop nylon than has been silicone coated and laminated to a finer fabric backing. Not terribly heavy but not ultralite. About the weight of frogg toggs but much tougher. If I can remember I will weigh it a the post office when I go.

Two years ago, I picked up a set of "Natural Gear" rain gear (top and pants) from Sam's Club for about $25. It doesn't compress well, but it's crazy light and has never leaked on me. It blocks wind real well, too. It isn't camo, it's an earthy green color, but worth every cent. I'll use it 'till it gives me a reason not to.

I'm rolling with Cabelas Space Rain. Its not the greatest but the top works great for a quick CO summer storm. I'm think about picking up a Kuiu chugach jacket this year tho
