Doing well, thanks for checking. 103 days for me, which is the longest I've gone without a drink since I started in high school. Wasn't a big problem, but was a change that has been positive for me. Now if the beer gut would just disappear, that would be great.
I come back to this thread often, it's my little crutch. keep up the work everybody.
Keep it up brotha!! It only gets easier and easier. Especially if it wasnt a big problem. Itll take a little bit to get rid of that weight. I think it took me 4 or 5 months before my excess eating too match the calories i lost from beer subsided, and for my metabolism to catch back up. Lost 80 lbs though and got back to fighting weight without even changing what I eat or having to work out.

1 Beer last weekend. Completely dry other than that, since February. I was catfishing, it was hot as hell and it sounded pretty darn good. It didn't taste nearly as good as it sounded. I was up 8 pounds but was still working out and eating pretty much the same. I changed my workout time shake around and have dumped that 8 pounds plus an additional 6. I re-listened to the Huberman podcast on Monday, just to reinforce myself.
Was it a bud light? That has happened to me a few times. I use to sell beer though, and had a basically unlimited supply of non alcoholic stuff that actually tasted good. And it has electolytes in it! I don't drink it any more though. If you need some, look for wellbeing heavenly wheat. Tried most every NA beer, and thats the only "good" one. Keep up the good work!

8+ months now and going strong. Easily one of the best decisions of my life. Down about 30 pounds from peak fatness, half of which I'd say was from the beer. Back near high school sports playing weight and feeling great.
Hell yah dude!! Feelin good is good!

No, it was a High Life. Normally I was a Keystone Light guy. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Heavenly Wheat. I tried Claushaler and it was the closest to tasting like actual beer that I have tried so far. One of my favorite things to do was split firewood in the evening. It was a treat to sit down after swinging a maul and knock back an ice cold Keystone. I reckon iced tea is going to have to take its place.

I was a big boulevard wheat fan back in the day, and I think that heavenly wheat tastes pretty close to that. That claus is oright, but not my style. Iced tea is pretty good too!

5 days dry for me after a week of 1 or 2 hard seltzers per night. It was hard going down to the couple of seltzers, but going dry has been easy so far. I'm going to be dry the month of May at least, and reassess at the end of the month whether I want/need to continue being dry, or see if I can be more moderate than I was before a couple weeks ago. Having a San Peligrino or something in my hand while watching NBA playoffs in the evening has replaced the wine or beer I would previously be drinking. I already have more energy, feel better, eat better, and sleep better.

This is my first time posting on this thread, but I've kept up with it since it started, and it's been very helpful. I appreciate everyone sharing their experience, insight, and suggestions.

Keep it up man! You will just feel better and better, and eventually find yourself sleeping like you did when you were a young gun. I went into it 4 years ago thinking it would be a year tops, and now I am certain I will not get drunk again, barring some seriously extraordinary circumstances.

As I stated very early, getting a good night sleep was a major factor in stopping drinking. I use an Apple Watch and have been using the sleep app to track my sleep.

A few weeks ago I had a glass of wine with a really good dinner my wife made. The results are easy to see in my sleep app tracker.

Top is the night after ONE glass of wine, the bottom is a typical night’s sleep. Notice how often I awoke as indicated by the red peaks. I would imagine a lot of your sleep patterns also look similar. Especially when you hit 50.

In addition to Claushaler, Athletic brewing makes some awesome NAs. Sam Adam’s NA is good, as is Coronas.

Busch NA when ice cold is actually pretty good. But it’s got to be out of an ice chest, not the fridge imho.

I can only find Bush NA at Walmart, and since covid, stock has been iffy at best.

Just checking in on everybody , how it's going ?

One month today.

While I still have the occasional craving, it feels like the craving is more social than physical. When your life revolves around alcohol, it can be hard to find a new way of living.

Started going back to the gym, I’m down 13lbs (about 20 to go), shooting my bow a lot (went to 3D for the first time last weekend), and trying to live life like I mean it it rather than treating it like something to be endured .

I'm glad I checked in and it's good to hear from people making a positive change in their life .
Please excuse me if I sound like a cheerleader , but if it was easy to be sober nobody would struggle with it , it ain't easy , but it's worth the effort .
And I get the social loss aspect of it , but over time that too will fade . Find other things to be involved in , I go to the gun range and reload , shoot my bow , things that don't mix well with alcohol .
And lastly , REAL friends will support you , fake friends will not .

Stopped drinking New Years day. Did it mainly because of problematic blood pressure and difficulty getting BP meds tuned in combination with alcohol.

Couple days after stopping, BP shot up but then dropped and stabilized at lower levels. This is consistent with research on the subject. I plan on staying away from alcohol in the future.
