Been really going over all my maps as my hunt approaches in the next few weeks. Still not %100 sure on what roads are all public and which are private in wyoming. What are the best maps to show the roads? I know county and BLM roads are public and and road that leaves public and crosses private then becomes private unless it's a blm or county road. What about forest service roads?

I’m in your boat. I have a paper my topo map that is huge and good for perspective and looking for routes. I’ve pulled up the county road maps which tell paved, graded, primitive. I’m assuming that this is the most accurate but would call if in doubt. I’m going armed with lots of paper and onx and hopeful it all makes sense when we’re driving around. Last thing I want to do is trespass. Good luck.

I just ordered a diyhuntingmap map of my unit and hopefully that sheds a little light on it. I think understanding the road system in Wyoming is the most difficult part of planning a hunt to a new unit

Contact the road and bridge superintendent for the county you're hunting.
A note, talking with a biologist last week he told us of a guy that traveled too far down a county road that turns private. He got caught but because the map online for the county showed it a CR he was acquitted.
BLM office may have a good map on the wall . Some BLM roads do cross private with access and some turn private. Road and Bridge department will be some help, GW as well. Contact info is online for them.
