Title says it. My family is considering a move to Pocatello.
I'd like to hear all about the town, area, and state....good and bad.

I live north of Pocatello by about an hour. I do not know Poky very well, but do know Idaho Falls pretty well. We moved here just under 4 years ago. For outdoor activities you cannot beat the area. World class fishing and great hunting all around.

Being from the east coast and not being morman its a bit of culture shock. We have realized that we will never fit in "mainstream" due to the heavy morman influence. Poky is supposed to be more integrated than IF, but it is still greater that 50%.

All that said, we do like it here. I like the leave everyone alone attitude from both the people and the state. We like being a short drive from so many different things to do / see in the outdoors (Yellowstone, Craters of the Moon, etc).

Hopefully you get more responses as I am not sure I helped much.

I grew up in western Idaho, but I've spent my fair share of time over in Poky. It’s a cool little town with hunting and fishing just outside of town plenty of biking trails in the area too! I actually killed a Moose not far from poky last year and every time I was in the town I enjoyed it a ton.

Ummmmmmm.................Idaho. Can still talk on the cell phone while driving, can possess a 32 ounce soda, can legally possess a fully automatic weapon, can possess a auto knife, don't have to wear hunter orange, can have a silencer, can buy an extra deer and elk tag, speed limit is 80, great OTC hunting, mostly conservative, and the list goes on. Why in the hell would ANYONE want to live here?????
