I’ll clarify one micro thingy...not much of my rant was aimed directly at the Slide. When you are searching for very specific intel or user experience on specific gear/equipment...this is the place. But I will not renig that “What is a good broadhead” gets old AF....you don’t even need to use the search function...read the 1st two pages in any forum and the answer or identical post...is there

But our society is very much full of Tools and Douche Bags. It’s not UnEducated....it’s that plus Flakey, Spineless with a large splash of Pansy. Stuff all that under a flat brim (ears tucked in of course) and wash it down with an IPA that tastes of rotten pine nuts and burned coffee....and there we are......Poseurs

"Tools and Douche bags"

That's what I'm talking about right there. Not necessary!!!
I used to have a mullet (@Ryan Avery thinks I still do) and the generation ahead of me referred to me with names like that. But am I? Or was I just different than their crew cuts?

I'm about to delete this thread.

Man, people bitch about the same questions being asked but continue to drone on and on about our society this and our society that. As if this is something new and it hasn't been happening for the last however long you believe man has been on this earth.
thanks for pointing that out! Ryan and I paid for the server space, so so what if someone asks a question that has been answered? It's a chat room, people chat!!!!

First and foremost Robby, mullets are badass. If I had the ability to grow long hair that didnt look like I had a black basketball on my head, I would rock a mullet.

Second, it really does make me laugh when people complain about people asking questions on forums but dont seem to realize that they die without it. I get that the same threads get annoying but nobody has a damn gun to your head forcing you to stay here or respond. You can ignore threads, its actually really simple.

I'm happy that one person accepts my mullet tendancies

The outrage over repeat threads/questions seems to be topic specific. Every other thread involves conversation around Tikka T3s and nobody seems to get upset about that. Lol

I'm probably close to being on Time Out for being an AH on the Slide. This site a few years ago was a place I could come to for information and actually learning. Guys more Hardcore than I was and had "Been there and done that" more than I had. Could learn about making meals better/cheaper than Mtn House, leuko tape, lacing techniques, reducing ES and SD in load development, etc. Real information.

Lately....WOW! I guess it's time to remove myself. Overall I am simply floored by the amount of Poseurs. So many things chap my ass. What is with people? I see SOOOO many rifles....was ARs five years ago...now it's the PRS/LR game. With soooo much shit on them. Like it's a contest to see how much money you can spend, or how heavy you build your rifle. How much BLING you can add.......to increase your Drip, your Flo or your Swagger. WTF? Buy a new scope.....Oh, Bra.....you gotta put the sun shade on.....look how much bigger it looks! It's no longer Shocks, Pegs = Lucky. It's like everyone has enough money to build an alcohol dragster....but never had a driver's permit.

Does this stem from a Social Media lifestyle competition? Where people can take pics of their blinged out 1 ton truck on 37s, their LR Rifle, their Nock On matching blinged out bows, Mtn Ops flat brim?

Rubicon Jeeps with dual lockers, 37s, Warn recovery system....oh...don't forget the roof rack tent thingy with the ladder.....so the lions in Africa don't eat your ass! Even tho those poor tires have never seen dirt.

Or is it everyone WANTS to be an Operator? TactiCool? I work in Law Enforcement. I've seen some of the biggest pussies, who don't work out, couldn't do ONE pull up or bench their body weight, shoot like absolute shit....show up with Tactical Tomahawks, Shemags, Multi Cam everything, punch knives, 16 tourniquets, etc. Again....WTF?

Shot at a semi public range this weekend. The numbers of expensive semi production rifles on the line was staggering. Optics more than my entire rig. And two Skinny Jean poseurs high 5ing after hitting a 36" plate at 600 yards...No LRF, no ballistic Ap, nada. Realize it's their money and "Right", but for what? An Instagram post?

Is this just "Sportsman's Warehouse......set me up with the whole schmear.....I've got more money than God....put a whole rig together. I don't care what it cost......I'll be there at 3pm and I expect to walk out Chris Kyle"

Many posts and comments seem to floor me. I guess 9th Graders need to obtain guidance and information on things they can't afford and will never purchase also?

I guess it's the beauty of living in the Country we do and having that Freedom. I'm extremely grateful and practice gratitude daily. I'm personally in a great spot. Love life. Love my close circle of who and what I have. Just extremely underwhelmed with 90% of modern people and society. Maybe I'm a day away from trying to buy a Whammy Burger and fries?

Didn't read past page 1. So forgive me if this was already mentioned.

Who cares? So what if people don't act like you do. We are all individuals.
If these people bother you...just log off your social media...log off rokslide and just do what you want to do. You will most likely be happier.

Also take a moment to self reflect on why you spent all the time to make this post. What was the reason you did it? Did you further yourself as a human by starting this post? Does this post have a positive impact on other people? You mention that you are in a great spot and love life. The happiest people that I know...never complain. And they would never post on an internet forum seeking validation.

Be a happy person and live your life the way you want to live it. No one else matters enough to take your happiness... especially someone from the internet.

Your post didn't offer a solution...which is why it flagged as just venting to me.

So...here is a possible solution:

I was lucky to start shooting/hunting as a little kid. Others are not as lucky...those people can really learn from rokslide. I make it a point to bring at least one "late adapter" into the hunting/shooting community every single year. Its fun...some of the stuff they buy or do is pretty hilarious. But they have to learn...they will find their grove. I take great pride and feelings of accomplishment when one of the people I am helping finds success in their new venture!

Get out there and be a mentor to one of these people you are complaining about and you might just find that they are pretty fun to hang out with and you may learn something from them.

You get out of here with your logic and solutions.

Baby-soft millennial poser here. This site has been a big help to me, not just with learning tactics and finding gear that works, but with the general confidence to go out and try something difficult and intimidating. Going out west and pulling up to public land is a way different beast than the corn-feeder whitetail hunting I grew up doing. This will be my 4th year doing a trip like that, and they've been extremely successful and rewarding thus far. I appreciate the old-timers being willing to share info, but understand that the "I'm new here, pick my unit" conversation gets old. I don't think it should bother you that a bunch of guys are trying to figure out something new and looking to the supposed "experts" for help, and I couldn't disagree more that everyone who picks up a new passion and celebrates it is a "poser."

FYI hunting has being going on for more than 20 years

I think that is why many on here are concerned that the younger generation, many it seems who now want to get into hunting, ( with zero knowledge of hunting's tradition and culture) because they listened to some huntin bro broadcast , want to get likes and be acknowledged on social media wearing kuiu and sitka etc gear. I and many others hunted decades in surplus military gear, old wool clothing. Look at the old pics of Dwight Schu, Larry Jones, Paul Brunner , Fred Bear, Pope and Young, Chuck Adams, Jack O Conner, Paul Schaefer ( best bow hunter/hunter ever IMHO) , Theodore Roosevelt...

And you want to start hunting, get the instant gratification and think that firearms bans and confiscation, predator hunting bans , trapping bans are a great idea. Plus banning free speech as you see now on all university campuses.

Why would we embrace these "new hunters" who want to redefine hunting?

Hunting out west, hunting in Alaska used to be about hard work, lots and lots of driving and travel, donating time and Manual labor to help help ranchers and farmers to get access and info, and and expenses, paying your dues and sometimes years without filling a tag and now it's screaming and crying if you don't get the answers and handouts sitting behind a computer.

We're basically seeing the californiafication of hunting now like the rest of our culture.

Sad

Wow. . . No kidding hunting has been going on for more than 20 years? Who knew! Wait, I did because at 33 I've been hunting for 28 years. It was an example of old people referencing the good old days of yester year cuz if your 65, 1990 would have been your wheel house of disposable income and steady career. My bad though 1973 for you? Or 63' or 83'? Doesn't matter, the mind always makes the past finder than it really was and older generations always look at the younger as if they will destroy the world as they know if.

I know the tradition and culture of hunting because I read all I could and still do. I bow hunt from an obsession with Fred Bear and an old man sense past that lived in a tiny Nebraska town but had trophy from around the world he had killed with his Bow in the 60s. I was lucky to have a dad that hunted and a friends dad that bow hunted. Many aren't. And they do hear a podcast or see a show, or have a friend mention it and they turn to their phone and start researching. News flash if you are on rokslide doing anything other than reading or posting on this thread you are a part of the problem!! You are sharing info so newbies with no mentor or guidance can get a start! I'm sure tons of these guys would love to have you or another experienced hunter teach them, but their folks moved to the city and now they are learning on the fly!

I have an Instagram account, I follow some people I respect and enjoy, I don't post anything and never will. I don't seek glory or likes, I seek wild lands, pushing myself, and hopefully putting meat in the freezer. My glory is making an 1700ft vertical climb in just over 3/4 mile to cut off a bull between his bed and water. Got there 10 min late and could do nothing but loves it all the same.

And this is the shit about some crusty bastards that really gets me. You say I want gun bans and confiscation, you say I want predator hunting bans and trapping bans. You have no damn clue! You piss from the top of you custom built 1974 (or was it 64') ivory tower on those coming behind you because they may be slightly different instead of cutting some slack. Guess what, I am 100% against confiscation, 100% for predator hunting, and I use those "evil" steel footholds for coons and coyotes! You don't know 90% of what goes on in those matching camo people's heads. Sure there are asshats of every size shape and generation. But odds are you've glossed over 3 of them from your generation to point out one from mine because they are more like you than my generation is. And I'll admit I fall at the old end of the god forsaken millennial generation that does seem to spit out douche bags at 1.75x rate of your average generation. But we're not all bad and there are tons like me that grew up very similar to how you did (minus the 5 mile walk to school up hill both ways). Most likely at a bar 2 drinks in you and I would swap stories and get along great, and I would listen more than talk to soak up some wisdom, if you could stand being seen with a millennial. But we would differ some where and come the 2A convo I'd say I'm willing to have conversation on changes to background checks and judge approved temporary red flags and we would spiral right back.

But if you do the research in you remove personal snowflake feelings you'd realize the right keeps arguing mental health, and the left says hey if there are mental health concerns we want to remove guns from the equation while we sort it out. . . Then the right says piss on that that's against my rights!!!

I sit in the middle and say shit, it is against your rights but if your stalking someone, or you say crazy shit in a school, or threaten your wife's life. . . You probably need a time out to make sure you were just expressing your 1st amendment rights and that you don't actually intend to carry out what you said! (I know crucify me, I must be in American) crazy that most gun violence isn't with the scary ar-15 in a mass shooting. It's Bob next door threatening his wife for 10 years and finally carrying out those threats. . . Bob was a law abiding citizen outside of threatening his wife, till he killed her. . .

White men are largely unaffected by gun violence, and largely for making zero changes to gun laws . . Coincidence???

Back to reading for me now before I get the ban hammer!!! (In other words take free shots I'll laugh when I read them, cuz I really am in a good mood!)
