I have just been waiting for something like this to happen. I can't blame people for being mad and irritated, but I fear this kind of behavior is going to give the antis plenty of ammo and potentially start making it harder to keep seasons for predator hunting and prevent any sort of future hunting seasons being established for Grizzlies.

I have read stories of things like this happening in the past. The one article I read stated people were throwing poisoned meat off highways which lead to zero deaths of my lions or wolves but a decent amount of cats and dogs. Maybe someone needs to teach whomever is responsible the SSS operation.

Lazy , poorly executed , ineffective attempt. Hopefully there are smart and able folks working in the backcountry and delivering to their intended target. Wishing the half assed bunch would quit so as not to rile up the anti's and the dog owners. Hate to see good dogs die for no reason.

Hopefully there are people that are ethical enough to work within the legal means. Poison is not one of them. It flat pisses me off to see members of the hunting community, WHICH REPRESENTS ALL OF US, advocating unlawful means of taking wildlife.

I am confused. I don't see the jump to hunters tyring to poison predators?
Some seed grain is colored for identification because it is poisonous to humans and livestock. How did witnessed colored grain get to suspected purposefully laced hamburger? Could this be improper disposal of seed grain?...or is there a turkey problem in the area?

Yeah, no where in that article is anything mentioned about an alleged target for the poison. It's not by coincidence that it ended up there, I'm afraid, but the intent is all speculation.

I lived in Condon for 10 years and am very familiar with the area where this occurred. I can't imagine any good coming from this for hunters, trappers, or outdoorsman of any sort. It's a shame.

I don't want to speculate either, but the owl loop area is a corridor for "charismatic megafauna" and "keystone predators" (to throw in a few Buzz words) ....or maybe someone just didn't know how to properly dispose of some burger they accidentally dropped in the granary where they keep such tainted grains.

The Sad thing is, some jackass is just as likely to do that to kill dogs as anything else. We've had a rash of people's dogs getting poisoned at dog parks around my area, people are sick.

I'm with Shrek, poorly executed and lazy slob job. Could be the perp was after domesticated dogs. If that is a popular hiking area it would make more sense. Make it look like something else.

I feel bad when a good dog is accidently poisoned................

If the slob was after some other critter he needs to be a little more creative.

X2

Poachers are poachers in my book, no matter if they illegally kill a big bull, wolf, or rabbit.
