Peax Equipment?

Guessing Samsung? Almost half of their flash memory chips are still manufactured in China, in Xian. So not completely a "not Chinese manufacturing" product. It's very hard to achieve that currently, particularly with electronics. But I'm drifting further off topic here. I felt like the spoon was worth 6 bucks, made in China or not. Don't have much interest/need for the rest of their gear currently.

If you go back to the origins of the company when it went from sissy Stix to peax, they expanded their ownership and brought in a bunch of influencers as investors. So a lot of the influencers out there literally have a vested interest in the company and naturally are going to focus on hiring other influencers as their main marketing strategy. I dont think that immediately invalidates their gear. I haven't tried any of it and probably won't since it all seems pretty overpriced.

Totally agree. I do my best to avoid chinese stuff. Im not hating on the free spoon, I almost got one, but I dont need it. I just do my best to avoid buying anything I can that was made in China. It is basically impossible to not have some chinese stuff, but if it specificially says its made there on the label, im not buying it. This isn't something I just started either. I have been this way for 15+ years. Old school liberal/ new school conservative type stuff.

How can you validate that the product was made in China? Anyone can place a sticker on something, what if the Chinese have their stuff made in another country and then put their sticker on it? Would you buy it then?

Well I tend to try and buy products from somewhat reputable brands.

Was bad enough that Call was pimping them but having a vested stake in the company makes it a harder pass.

I don’t know much about the influencer aspect of it, but I bought a set of the “sissy stix” for my stepdaughter simply because her nickname is “sissy.” She ended up busting a pole while skiing because she had it extended beyond the stop line—emailed them to see if I could buy a replacement upper part and they sent me a new part for free! That’s pretty dang cool if you ask me!
Also ordered a pair of their gaiters at the same time and have used them pretty hard for a couple year and I’d say they are on par with OR Crocodile.

That’s what threw me for a loop. Influencer or not I feel like lampers, Cory Jacobson, and Brady Miller vet their gear regardless of brand but who knows. I was surprised to see them all jump onboard with the peax tipi. Maybe it’s that good, maybe not. Not much info from end consumers.

I'd bet that if sponsoring or giving or anything associated with products and insta hunters was outlawed, you would see an instant change in gear. Maybe not all their gear, but a lot of it.

Right now, it comes down to money. cash in pocket or free gear. Sure, not all of their gear, but I would say more than 50%

When I decided I wanted a rechargeable headlamp w/red I looked at Peax. I knew Jacobsen used it so that made it worth a look (not necessarily a purchase). Although I agree, the Peax guys being on Destination Elk did nothing for their backcountry credibility.

Anyway, at the same time the Sofirn threads started hitting here on Rok. WKR's were getting them and giving high praise. That meant more to me than a celeb hunter pushing them. I know Peax lamp has a few more bells and whistles. But for the price of 1 Peax I got 4 Sofirns. 1 for each guy in my hunting group. We're all happy with them.

Long story short, regular guys using gear and posting about it here is worth more to me than what a celeb hunter is using.

The light seemed decent enough, but the first thing I thought when I unboxed it was to hope that I paid $80 for the light and got the $0.12 head strap/light holder for free.

What’s the deal with peax equipment? I don’t understand why everyone is pimping them so hard lately. I’ve never used any of their products but I don’t understand how every single product they release can be this massive slam dunk. All these big names in the industry jumping on board. Is their shit really that good or is everyone selling out?

I was ready to plunk down my $80 for the 1000 lumens and red light, but found the Sofrin in time to try it and I'm not mad about it at all. Specs on the Peax are impressive, but Sofrin works just fine for me.
