Trying to decide on a new do it all puffy from rifle hunts in Idaho and Colorado to Alaska. Most of my western hunting is done by backpack. From what I have heard the Grumman is very hard to beat when it comes to warmth to weight ratio, and packability.

However, Kings has their Down Transition Jacket on sale right now for 180 bucks. I have heard great things about their XKG line and thought about picking one of these up. From the stats it seems to have almost the same amount of fill, and only a weighs a couple more ounces. While I have considered buying a grumman for a while now, Its hard to pull the trigger when it appears you can get 90% of the same jacket for about $200 less.

Just checking to see if anyone has any thoughts or experience with either one of these pieces, and how they fit. As I am often between size L and XL.

No experience with kings. But as a hunter who spends all my time in idaho and alot of it backpacking the SG is for me. Great piece. Im usually between a L and XL too and bought both. I returned the L cuz it was alright with out layers but I wanted a little extra room. XL is a great fit
