Somewhere between 800-900 rounds on this barrel with no cleaning whatsoever. Trying a new load with 103gr ELD-X’s. The first ten round group that has went over 1 MOA (1.01 MOA).

Then trued it up at 3,110fps MV at 962 yards.
Have you killed anything with the 103 yet? Curious what you think of them as a killing bullet.

Not enough to say definitively.
No worries, was just curious. I couldn't find any 108 eld-m's on my last trip out of town so I picked up a box of these to try. Hopefully I can get some loaded yet this fall and find a critter to run em through.

Tikka 22-250, cut at 20” and rechambered to 22CM, 6x SWFA.

Rounds from last year loaded with Ramshot Hunter, 88gr ELD-M, and CCI 400 SR primers. Shot 50-60 rounds of this last winter with no issues, however had 4 rounds that were hangfires this time-

Different load using the same brass that was primed. 88gr ELD-M, 40gr Superformance, 2.65 coal, CCI 400 SR primer.

All 10 rounds were hangfires-

First time I have had issues with SR primers in 308/creedmoor sized cases. Have not had any issues with Fed 205’s to below -20° F.

Didn’t have any LR primer 22CM brass, so took Hornady 6.5cm cases and one step resized in the 22CM FL die.

88gr ELD-M, 40gr Superformance, 2.650” coal. No issues.

Also did 77gr TMK in the necked down 6.5cm brass, 43gr Superformance, 2.575” coal, again no issues-

Why do you think the 50 - 60 last year were fine, but not this year?

It’s a primer issue. I am not sure what, however apparently it’s a thing with CCI 400’s- it’s not unheard of. My guess is it was right on the ragged edge of consistently lighting, and now for whenever reason is on the other side. No big deal, just swap cases.

CCI 400’s are definitely on the light end of SRP’s.

Ball powder isn’t helping ignition if it’s on the edge either, I wouldn’t be surprised if H4350 or similar could put you on the right side of the line.

Took a 6.5x47 - CCI 400 - Varget combo well below zero multiple times and it worked perfectly, but I get large rifle brass for Creed’s.

How do the cci 450’s compare? Are they “hotter” or do they just have a harder cup?

Thank you. Have shot tons of SRP’s in XC, CM, and 308win but all Federal.

The Federal is defiantly a hotter primer, the CCI400 is near the bottom of the list in both brisance and cup thickness

I just bought a case of CCI 41s, supposedly same brissance as the 450s and slightly different cup. I’ve used around 3000 of them in the past couple years without an issue, although not much with ball powder or extreme cold. Never had a hang fire.

I'll reply to myself here. I think my increase in pressure might be due to brass getting too big for the chamber after 10 reloads. The web area of the case is slowly increasing in diameter and getting too tight in the chamber...some of them very tough to resize. I am had a few hard bolt lifts this evening.

I also shot some 2x brass, same load. Easy lift, no primer swipes.
Sounds like the brass is getting work hardened. I have had brass get stiff in the resizing die and get tight in the chamber if I don’t anneal often enough. The brass springs back too much after resizing.

I have read that the anvil on the 41s is set a small amount deeper so superficial hits from the floating firing pin on ARs will not cause ignition

What is your approximate speed with the 88s in the 20" 22cm?
