Terrain? Trail, off trail?3 mi 45 lbs in 45 min or less, to qualify for arduous wildland fire duty
Ah, spring: highs in the 50s, river discharge bumping, turkeys already getting frisky, and, of course, the good ol arduous work capacity test.
Anyone else racking up the 45 lb miles training for pack test?
It's on flat ground, usually on pavement (which sucks) or an unpaved road.Terrain? Trail, off trail?
I got reprimanded for jogging a few years agoI just hate how you have to “walk”. Makes it a little tougher haha

The pack test replaced the step test in the last millennium. Just FYI.That’s cool - I’m from the old step test days and don’t recall hearing about this new test - I like it. 3 miles in 45 minutes is moving right along. A lot of slow walkers must struggle with it, and natural fast walkers do well. Fast walkers are better workers anyway. Lol
As a practical matter it must be a lot easier to evaluate a large group with the new test.
Yes, google says late 1990s - I was on to other things by then. *chuckle*The pack test replaced the step test in the last millennium. Just FYI.
That sounds like fun.Not going to lie, it was great fun to speed up the step test metronome to pull the chain of new guys.
