I got a call last Saturday from the Montana FWP. The guy was doing a survey on how many days I hunted Montana last year, what unit I hunted, did I get an elk and those type of questions. I told him I applied for a general elk tag with zero points and his response was I think you will have a good chance at drawing especially this year. Not sure what he meant by that but hope he is right.

Wouldn't put much stock into what those guys say. They are private contractors hired by FWP to do phone surveys. They work from home and most likely know less than anyone at FWP.

On some other forums I follow some posts said that they called FWP and were told the draw was “postponed” and it might be “sometime next week”… at this point who knows what’s true or not. My gut feeling is that it’s 50/50 that it happens on Monday. I do have an IT background and can say for implementation projects I’ve been on we would never run a job/program like this on a Friday where the necessary support people/teams were unavailable or harder to reach due to the weekend.

That makes a lot of sense, also as a government schlub myself (obviously not in MT) there are a lot of people who work 4 10’s or a 5-4-9 schedule so Fridays are often a low staff day as well. Not sure if that’s true with FWP or not though.

They may have had a harder time tracking down the outfitters this year. Remember they have to call them all and verify for the extra bonus point.

I have a sneaking suspicion that your work is in the private sector. This here is gov work my friend. They're at home having cookouts and won't give this a second thought until they come back to work Monday.

Former Gubment employee here, can confirm they most likely left at 11AM on Friday for lunch and never came back. Hopefully Monday is the day.
