Seeing some guys with 2 PPs not draw, I'll be curious what the overall odds look like for applying with zero vs two. The math/cost might start to look better to me to keep applying every year but quit buying PPs. This was a 1 point year for me, so I knew what to expect.

I heard of guys with 2 not drawing as well. My hunting partner and I have applied the last 5 years with zero and had been drawing every other year. Now we have gone 2 years in a row without drawing, making us 2 for 5.

Question - given these were the odds for 2025 and 2024, how did 4,522 people end up in the 3 point pool in 2025 when only 871 didn’t draw in the 2 point pool in 2024? I thought you had to apply to keep your points?

Outfitter hunters can buy 2 points at time of application + 1 the fall prior!

I'm glad you posted that; so for 2025 we are at 53% (0pp) vs 84% (2pp). If that gap tightens again this year, I may very well drop PP apps and just keep getting bonus for the occasional LE permit.

How many of these guys thought they had 2 points and lost one due to not applying the year before? In theory there shouldn’t be a snowballs chance in hell someone with 1-1.5 should have drawn and they did!

my dad and I both got drawn big game combo with zero points. Unsurprisingly, did NOT get drawn for the 799-20 permit with 1 point….*sigh*

Draw odds are long on that tag for a NR. Curious. are you turning the elk tag back, going to hunt west for an elk or hunting 799 and hoping to fill the elk tag with a spike or cow.
