Was just browsing for a new to me rifle in a semi rare cartridge now that I reload. Quickly came across a stainless Ruger 25-06 for a decent price. I have the same gun in .308 and love it. Was excited to hit the buy now button until I got the message that this self righteous Texas POS doesn’t sell to my state. A bolt action in an obvious hunting round. The notes said something about how our laws just aren’t worth the trouble. Who’s laws? I didn’t vote for them and we actually were close to defeating the other side’s gov last time. May get closer next time.

if any state would try and go after an out of state seller especially private if something went wrong I guarantee it’d be NY. Can’t hardly blame people for not wanting to get mixed up in that mess when there’s plenty of other states not ready to break it off in a gun owners ass.

For what it’s worth…which might not be much, I’ve had lots of success picking up the phone and explaining I’m nowhere near NYC and things end up just fine. I have found that many say no shipment or sales to NY, but the intention is to steer clear of NYC.

There’s a giant piece of ground in NY that isn’t NYC.

As an upstate NY resident, I don’t blame any retailers and especially private sellers that refuse to sell items to us for fear that they’ll get bound up in some legal battle if not now, down the road when the clowns in Albany come up with more tyrannical laws to attack the firearms industry

Former New Yorker. Gun laws around NYC, Long Island and west Chester are hard to navigate. Must retailers seem to just ignore the whole state as a result. Some years ago a New Yorker bought a rifle from a shop in Louisiana that a buddy owned part of. It seems like the DA in Brooklyn tried to charge the store with some kind of offense. It all got dismissed but it cost the shop some attorney’s fees.

All joking aside, it really is frustrating sometimes when you find something you want and the owner won't sell it to you out of fear rather than knowledge. I mean you have to ship to an FFL. At that point it's on the FFL whether to do the transfer or not, but I guess that's the sellers prerogative. I just look at it as the seller lost potential bids and another one will come along eventually.
