Since this corner crossing issue may be getting fixed, is the next fight getting rid of non-res fees for hunting federally managed public lands?

Do state run agencies not also getting federal funding?

They should have a separate lottery for federally managed lands eliminating res and non-res applicants.

Pitch fork me…I don’t care. These fees to hunt are getting sickening.

The state manages the wildlife. With or without a tag you can still access the federally managed land. The “federal funding” in theory is proportional to the amount of license dollars brought in by the state, at least as far as I understand Pittman/Robinson and Dingle/Johnson acts. I am of the opinion the state can and should prioritize the residents of that state when it comes to opportunity to the game animals it is tasked with managing.

Federal land. State animals! State land . All separate issues.

Pittman Robinson, etc are federal taxes on sporting goods. Last I heard was being spent on offices and bonuses for USFWS. Not the intent.

If it is really important- move to the state of your choice. Many of us already have.

Everyone seems to apply for several states?

It isnt enough for a lot of you guys to hunt 1, 2, 3, or 4 states - its bound to happen. Either the costs go up, the odds go down, or both.

Totally agree—if corner crossing is getting addressed, the next fight should be the non-res fees on federal land. These are everyone’s lands, and states still get federal funding. A separate lottery for federally managed land that treats all applicants the same makes sense. The current fee gap is getting out of hand.

Or a better solution you can move and take advantage of being a resident.

There is no fee to access federal public land, free all day long. To hunt game, pay the fee for the animals managed by the state, not the feds. States only receive a small percentage from the feds to help manage, the bulk of funding comes from state hunting licenses. As many have said, you need to move to get cheap hunting. But then you have to try and afford that area, sometimes it ain’t cheap living.

You don’t have to pay fees to access federal lands as a non-resident…because the Feds manage the LAND. Feel free to hike, bird watch, bike, and otherwise enjoy those federal lands for the same price as residents…which is free about 99.9 percent of the time. Now ask yourself who manages the wildlife. Hint, it’s NOT the Feds.

Maybe think through your argument before flashing your ignorance for all the world to see?
