I’ll refer you to my prior post for the facts. Because you rambling on with the same old tired “the state does this or that” does not make it a fact they have any clue how many of x animal lives in the state to be able to manage.Do you know what obtuse means?
When you’re looking up the issue of who owns (and manages) wildlife on federal lands as per court ruling(s) LONG ago,…look that meaning up as well.
If you don’t believe the state manages wildlife, and now you’re implying you don’t believe the Feds do either…who do you think does?
All of the aforementioned methodologies (aerial surveys, radio collaring, winter feeding, etc.) ARE what constitutes game management. The state does those things…the Feds do NOT.
I’ll throw in enforcement responsibilities since the obvious seems to escape you. The STATE is responsible for enforcement of hunting/fishing laws as well.
Why you ask?…because they (animals) belong to the state. Thusly, their harvest and associated tag costs are the purview of the STATE…not the feds.
Not sure how to dumb this down anymore, so hopefully you can follow this line of logic. If not, best of luck getting laws changed in your non-native state I guess?
Is there 500,000 deer, 1 million, 5 million? Yeah, the state knows it’s between 0 and 3 million. You, i or anybody else could give as good a guess by counting piles of crap, estimating x number of deer made that crap, then multiplying how many deer that would be per square mile, then multiply by square miles in the state.
BTW, they mostly don’t even do that anymore! Now it’s “we gave out this many tags and this many guys killed deer so we think there are this many deer”.
So i’ll emphasize this one last time. The state does NOT know how many elk, deer, moose, whatever are in the state. They manage tags and hunters, period.
