Hi All,
Just started using blackhorn 209 in my own gun and was wondering if anyone had experience using noblesport primers with it. I understand that the CCI and Fed magnum primers are recommended (the hotter the better). I bring this up because during the initial 10 shots, I did have one squib on me, making me wonder if my current primers are just a tad less than needed.

The only other factor I can think of is that I'm shooting a CVA Optima V1 without a specific blackhorn breech plug.

I wouldn’t use Nobel Sport 209s - they’re relatively weak as 209s go. And get yourself the Bh209 plug.

Personally, I use nothing but Fed209As for hunting.

@ElDiablito thank you for confirming my suspicions, figured that may be the case. I'll definitely snag some federals.

When it comes to the black horn plug though, from a quick internet search I found that unfortunately no one makes one for the original optima. From what I can gather on various searches, seems like if you use the magnums primers one should be okay with the original plug. The only other option I've seen is drilling out the plug.

Never needed a "Mag" Primer been using Fed 209A's and Win W209 with no issues but it requires a 209 Breech Plug. I would Contact CVA and see If they offer a specific 209 Breech Plug for your ML. As the shape of the plug is what helps ignite the BH 209 Powder the best.
