New Seekins Rifles!!

Well Seekins caught me in a buying mood. I checked out the new guns at the Sheep Show. They really are nice. Some guys from Scheels was in the booth so I ordered an Element Hunter in 6CM from them. $3200, no tax, free shipping to my FFL, and Scheels is adding a $320 gift card. And the Seekins guys gave me a couple really nice little gear bags for ammo and stuff.

They said they’ll start shipping in February and will likely start with the HIT models, then the Element Hunters. So it could be a month but it could be 3-6 months. Guess we’ll see.

Did they mention when they’d be shipping the ph3s?

They just said the new stuff would start going out in February. And it sounded like Hits and Hunters first and I guess PH3s after that. It was basically February to start new guns shipping and maybe 3-6 months for all the models.

Following to see who's first to adapt this action inlet. With Proof making pre-fits, the only thing slowing me down here is the ability to cram this into a different chassis. @XLR ?

Am I missing it….folks are dogging on the weight but we don’t even know what the weight is yet. He said maybe 1/2lb….but then you cut down 4” of barrel for likely 4-6oz.

Regardless if YOU use the mlok and/or riser if it ends up being .25lb more it will likely be a win for the MAJORITY of folks who buy the rifle….which is who a company for profit is marketing to.

I agree if it’s 1lb or something more for the average person it won’t be worth it. But for a few ounces it won’t hurt much.

This isn’t a custom rifle…..it’s meant for masses.

Yea, your absolutely missing it. I have multiple rifles, friends have rifles, i spend a fair amount of time at the rifle range and nobody, I mean absolutely NOBODY has mlok on their rifles. Pic rail, yea. Arca maybe. nobody has mlok.
I already have a seekins rifle so to replace my rifle with the same thing of equal barrel length it's retarded to add a 1/2 pound to gain nothing. If also have to buy more hardware to add weight to attach a bipod i already own to mlok or buy a new bipod altogether which adds more cost which can't be used on other rifles as NOTHING i own has mlok. Atlas, ckye, gunwerks don't offer bipods that attach directly to mlok that I'm aware of? They should have went pic rail.

There's zero benefit to mlok.
Cheek piece adds some benefit to some people, none for me.

Make that an option, not the standard.

M LOK is actually pretty cool. You can customize what you want on your gun, however you want without drilling holes in your stuff. If you want a pic rail up front and an arca by the mag well, then you can do so. Next year if you want to try something different, then just take them off and put something new on. Super quick and easy. If you want to adjust a rail, just unbolt it and slide it a few inches. Then you don’t have 15 holes drilled and gobs of epoxy on the inside of your stock. Might cost you a few more bucks in the long run by buying more adapters, but I personally think it’ll be worth it. And all that extra hardware is literally a few ounces, max. It won’t make any noticeable difference in weight.

This is the point. User can configure pic, arca, or spartan wherever they like on their own. I don’t love the extra weight either, but dogging on m-lok itself is misguided. Being able to go smooth for hunting off a bag is great.

Curious to see if these new actions address the obnoxious bolt bind of their predecessors. I love the innovation in the action, and want to want one. But if I have to put my thumb on the back of the bolt to throw it home, none of that matters.

Was this with the recent generation bolt? I felt overall bolt manipulation was subpar with the original havak actions but the revised bolt model they replaced it with for me has been slick and I felt the bolt manipulation is generally a positive rather than a negative on my sample of 1 300 WM.

That said, some of the ones ive finger banged on the rack at scheels felt shitty too.. I wrote it off as them needing to have grease removed but maybe there's just a fair bit of variance from gun to gun?

While I agree that I'd prefer no cheek riser, no m-lok (depending on how much weight of m-lok adds i guess) it seems like you are missing the point of Mlok. Its not for bipods or tripods to connect to, its to be modular and easily add pic, arca, etc without taking the barreled action out and drilling holes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mlok and adjustable comb add at least a 1/2#. That's a negative IMO. My 300 WM PH1 was pushing 8# regardless of what they listed them at. Def wouldn't want to add another half pound.

I haven’t felt one in the last 2.5 years. When was the bolt update? It was obnoxiously poor under any cross pressure.

I would have tagged MDT, as an element/ hnt26 is about perfect, but that feels like a real long shot.

Allright so i know nothing about the MLOK. Lets say I just want to add a sling & bipod(pic rail) to it & go hunt. My easy/best option would be to order a magpul's MLok aluminum rail, QD sling mount, & type 1 rail covers?

Didn’t these are used an after market rem 700 safety that would lock the bolt?? I seem to recall something like that back in the day. That would be a nice after market option if someone can do that.

There’s been the Mauser style 3 position safety option like the Gentry available for Remingtons forever. Watching the Seekins video and the bolt disassembly, something like the Remington conversion (Mauser) does not look in any way compatible. The Seekins shroud, cocking piece and pin appear far too integrated for something like the old Mauser type 3 position safety to be retrofitted. But who knows? Maybe it can be done?

Allright so i know nothing about the MLOK. Lets say I just want to add a sling & bipod(pic rail) to it & go hunt. My easy/best option would be to order a magpul's MLok aluminum rail, QD sling mount, & type 1 rail covers?

I'd look for a pic rail that also has integrated sling stud or flush cup qd for a sling built in.

I probably wouldn't mess with rail covers. They make a little more sense with an ar hand guard that is all aluminum and mloc on 3 sides if you want to have something that conducts hot/cold temps less. On the bottom of the seekins they would just make it less stable on a rest.

My element was less than ideal when I first bought it. Has since loosened up a bit but I wouldn't say its smooth like a Tikka.

My element was less than ideal when I first bought it. Has since loosened up a bit but I wouldn't say its smooth like a Tikka.

I’ve never felt an action this poor, including the Howa and RA. This is consistent with my previous ph2 experiences. I am very hopeful that the new light 60 actions address this issue and not just bolt lift weight.

Was this at Shot Show? I tried a quite a few different guns at Sheep Show and there was one that was just like this. It was rough rough. I picked up a few others and they were much better. I brought this up to one of the guys in the booth and he said they only had a few rifles to take out and they knew that action was rough as hell. He was confident none of the rifles shipping to customers would feel like that, I tend to trust him on that.

Neighbor’s gun. All the ones I’ve felt have been out in the wild. Across them, pressure straight forward on the rear of the bolt has been mandatory to avoid binding. I’ve never felt anything so poor.

Interesting. Of the PH3’s I fondled there was definitely one that ran like trash, in a short action too. The rest of them felt good, I tried pushing side to side to get them to bind, and while they aren’t a tikka action I couldn’t get them to bind.
