Seekins PH3

Waiting on yall to buy new ones so I can snag someone’s ph2. Don’t wait, buy now
Not going to waste my time with a PH2 when there's soo many more benefits to the PH3. I can swap to ANY other caliber with it easily and the way they designed it, it's snap in place housing guarantees perfect fit into the stock. Built in, welded Pic rail for perfect scope mounting every time. I'll gladly pay the extra for the added features.

I got a 7prc with a 22 in barrel. Hope to get the scope mounted and shoot it this weekend. Very impressed so far. I don’t understand comments I have read about the bolt action. It is smooth as silk. Weight is as expected.

agree, I just need my quota of comments so I can direct message in classifieds

Here is a question. I am starting to see some of the original Elements for sale at around the same price as the new PH3. Those used to cost $2800 and are pretty awesome.
For the same money, is an Element a better value than the PH3?

I am super curious about this same question. I have been looking at the ph2 and Ph3, but I just need to research more about the old elements and what I would gain or lose deciding between them all.

I have the original element and can say its up to what youre looking for. The original element is going to be 2lbs lighter than the PH3s, but you are stuck with a 21" barrel for SA and 22" barrel for LA. No interchangeable barrels but the Element action will work with the new stocks and Seekins did say they would offer the stocks separately so you can upgrade to the new one down the line. Dont know if the PH3s have the built in bubble level.

I wonder if I can have Seekins spin up a CF barrel for the original Element once I have shot out my barrel, or if they can only do the original style barrel with it.

Would be interesting with the CF barrel, but wouldn’t you need to swap out the stock? I would wreck that in a heartbeat trying to sand it down

It depends what your priorities are. Like stated below if weight is a concern the old element is considerably lighter. They are coming out with the element m3 and the element hunter on the new action but I don't see weights on those yet. My brother has the old element in a 7PRC and it is very accurate and he likes it.

Might need to, if i change the stock to the new one I would probably be fine

Yeah good point on priorities. I was thinking about a dedicated deer rifle, probably in 6 or 6.5 creed. I like the light weight and know a 21" barrel is a nice middle ground for those rounds.
Part of my intrigue is that I always wanted an element but they were out of my price range until recently.

Sounds like you should get one while they are cheap. You probably won't find them cheaper than they are at the moment.

I have the same exact SKU on its way to my FFL right now. How does it shoot?

I have not shot it yet. I ordered medium bases for a Nightforce NX8 and needed high.

Any chance you can get a weight before and after that nightforce is installed? I would love to set mine up with one but the weight on those is up there

I guessing they can’t swap it or maybe won’t for some reason. The only reason I think they won’t put a CF barrel in the outgoing model is I sent mine to them last month for a warranty claim. The gunsmith called me and told me they didn’t have a new barrel they could spin on mine. Granted that was the steel fluted barrel but they never asked if I would want a CF on it. They just asked if I would be ok getting a brand new element m3. So for me that’s what I’m getting is a brand new element m3 and not a mew barrel on the rifle I sent back.

Interesting, ill email them and ask them what the process will be for getting a new barrel for the old elements. One of the benefits of the Seekins was that if you shot out your barrel you can get a new one installed for $550 through them, hope something like that still exists.

The primary benefit of Elements seems to be weight. I have no statistical knowledge of this but it SEEMS like there are more reports of things going wrong with elements. There is more going on there than just a basic steel action that seems more complicated and issue prone and that makes them less attractive to me.

I will say that I ran the action on some 1st gen elements and Ph2s in scheels last night and the element action did feel smoother than the Ph2. But the ph2 action also felt a little stiffer than the ph2 i used to own so i wonder if cleaning/breaking in would change that.

Confirmed with Seekins the rebarrel is still an option for the old elements for $550 and the CF barrels wont fit the old elements unfortunately so that wont be an option.

Pretty sure the stock PH3 is ~7.4lbs, so with the nightforce I’d guess slightly under 10lbs.
