Trying to decide on a caliber for a new bolt gun
I currently have a tikka t3 .270, I’m wanting something with a little bit lower recoil, for my girlfriend to shoot. I’ve been looking at building a howa mini in 6 arc would like something to put in a nicer chassis or stock and use for deer hunting and possibly some long range shooting. I don’t reload but have a good friend of mine that does. Trying to keep the rifle and chassis around 800-1000 before optic. Or should i just upgrade the stock on my tikka to make it a little more comfortable and save some money?

6 arc seems fun! I think the .270 will need a bolt swap and a new barrel if you wanna size down caliber wise. Few other manufacturers making 6 creed or 6 arcs in bolt guns ( ruger & savage) not ideal but maybe look at those too?

Tikka 243 fast twist and a KRG bravo. If you get a threaded barrel and done have a Can the add a SME for $100. It will slightly reduce recoil and mitigate the noise a small percentage. All of this combined will make it more enjoyable for her to shoot

Agree with above on the ARC. My old go to for new shooters was a heavy barrel savage in 22-250. Sold it and am now on a 6.5 Grendel ruger ranch in a bravo chassis. All in $900 The 6arc is similar in recoil but for me I wanted to standardize on a single projectile and my primary is 6.5CM. ARC or Grendel under 300 yards and the animal won’t know the difference. I have a greater hunting bullet selection with the Grendel vs the ARC
