I've been doing the same thing, but the Guide lid makes it a little easier than the Longhunter lid.

These are me. But I still may give the AMR a shot and see how it does. As far as getting a bow on it, I get my bow on my EMRII and my Barney's via the lid and Grab-it and it carries like a champ without having to employ the straps.

What about the Guide lid carries a bow better? Shape? Size? I wouldn't use it as a backpack, so how does it compare mounted on a pack to the LH?

I love my T1 but this pack addresses all the things I didn't love about the T1. Bigger back pockets , modular sides that work with the new long spotter pockets and independent compression straps than can optionally compress the side pockets. Internal and side pocket volume doesn't interfere with each other. Bigger for my xl stuff and still fit my stove. Now I just have to make room in this years budget. Just when I thought I was out of the pack buying business Kifaru pulls me back in ! Someone is going to get a steal of a deal on a T1 bag shortly.

This pack is exactly how I run my HC7000 (2 large belt pockets down the center). The AMR would solve my problem with the pockets flopping when they're not full, but is there any other advantage to this bag other then more ci's & a third row of compression straps? The AMR is nearly a pound heavier as well.

Aron or Joe, can you run the AMR without a lid like the HC?

Another question: Have you guys ever fiddled with side zip access on bags like this, or is it not practical because of the compression straps and the pals? Access is my only real issue with the HC. When you run a lid & grab-it, while in daypack mode (main bag not full) getting into the main bag is a pain.

Chippewawarrior - same here regarding the hc7000. I was over at kifaru last week and got to check out the pack. The thing for me is how flat the pack goes in day pack mode and you can still access the pockets. Here are some pics of it from when I was in.

Elkfitness - It looks awesome! I can compress my HC7000 down to the same size even with the 2 compression straps. I can run it even smaller with my grab-it cinching up from the bottom. The problem lies when you add a lid & grab-it with a less then a half full main bag. Access to the main bag becomes a pain because you have to take off at least the grab-it to get into the bottom zip, and the lid to get stuff out from the top. I'm not sure there is an ideal solution for speedy access if your running that setup? I would love a side zip in my HC instead of the bottom zip, but that limits access for those that utilize side pockets (I don't). A center zip would be fine too, but then I wouldn't be able to run the belt pockets in the same manner. That's why I was asking if they've tested a similar setup. I love the look of the AMR, but I'm not sure a couple of compression straps and some extra cubes is worth switching to when it gets used twice a year? The MW is a solution as well, but it's not big enough for my taste. I'm definitely liking the all the options. Maybe an EMR for me...

I like this pack but thinking I would like the center zip of the emrII and the zipper pockets set up long on either side of the center zipper?
