The SAS guys prefer the Auto Lock buckles.

The attachment points and having 3 sewn in compression straps are the biggest difference.

Hmm looks good, I thought you didn't care for the autolocks much Aron why the change to those? Was thinking of picking up a Highcamp but may go this route instead.

Whats the benefits of this over say a Highcamp 7? Or a Highcamp 7 in between a nomad?

I like the strap management better on the AMR too, but I still think I like the center zip of the EMR2 better. It was really handy for stuffing a goat cape in it.

Besides the back pockets how is this different from the Highcamp?

The attachment points on the sides and 3rd compression strap are the big ones.

It is easier to attach multiple pouches in the AMR compares to an HC.

I like the comp straps

I agree. The EMR2 is the next best thing since sliced bread. I see no reason to change and take a step backwards. I don't want an Aussie named backpack anyway!
I don't have and EMR but for extended trips I really don't like how wide my nomad gets, it is really the only complaint I have, I'm sure the EMR is similar in that respect. Above treeline it's probably not a big deal but in thick woods it can be a pain.

The AMR was definitely designed to be different than the EMRII.

Some guys love the center zipper and size of the EMR, but didn't like how the compression straps wrapped around the entire pack.

The AMR is designed so that you can still get to any pocket quickly without needing to unbuckle any compression straps.....but still handle a giant load-out when needed.

Looks good Aron. Can't beat my nomad for utility. Hell I carry 24 duck dekes and 6 goose in the damn thing. Along with my shotgun, marsh seat and two liters of water.

Don't let the size fool you, it will go from real big, all the way down to almost nothing real easy.

Aron if you get a chance could you show the daypack mode like above but with a spotter and tripod on the sides? Maybe the spotter in one of the new side pockets?

Also are there attachment points inside the bag like the EMR?

Can we order it without the autolocks as well?

Shit I may just have to call you, I keep editing this post with more questions...

Looks great and does get rid of the issue I spoke with you about last March after my mountain goat hunt with the straps getting in the way of the pockets. However, don't see it being as easy to strap on two packrafts or a couple goat hides to the outside either. But overall much slimmer design for sure! Just more options to curtail to ones particular needs. EMR 2 is my favorite packbag thus far I have used, but this Aussie pack looks pretty sweet no doubt. Hope to get to run one on this March's mountain goat hunt to run it through the paces. :)

It is a nice looking pack for sure. I've got my EMRII set up pretty well after a season of use and my only complaint with it's straps is that it doesn't have the same strap keepers on the front as it does on the sides. So if there's something in the bottom but not the top, the straps will slide up over the load to the top, if that makes sense. I like carrying my bow on my pack if I'm going long distance and the EMRII works well for that.

I see the AMR (for my uses) being a great day pack that expands, where I see the EMRII as a freighter that packs down to day pack size.

Before I pull the trigger on this, a couple of questions if you don't mind Aron:

1- Is there a over-the-top compression strap?
2- Will this work for 24" frames too?
3- Are the front pockets larger than large belt pouches?

I'm liking this more and more. Even though it's way more pack than I'll need, I like the lay-out of a super timberline. Luckily it compresses good ;)
