New Frame and Bags from Kifaru International

Hey Ken, welcome! I am new to the forum as well and like you I wanted to purchase a new pack from Kifaru. There are a number of videos both here on Rokslide and on Kifaru's site that go through the difference in the dt series and the high camp that should answer alot of your questions. I choose the dt2 over the high camp because I wanted the pockets to help organize my gear. My buddy just got a high camp 7000 in a bikini frame and it is a awesome pack. In the end you can't go wrong with either one, just choose what is best for your needs. The bikini is an awesome frame, comfortable and seems to move with you. If you want your pack in time to get some miles on it I would not waste much time in ordering, there is a waiting period! Happy hunting!

Welcome here Ken.

As per our PMs and phone conversation...I'm still voting for Bikini frame with a 4800 with Longhunter lid, and then add pockets as you see fit. That way you aren't stuck with pockets you don't want and can't add the pockets you do.

As far as frame breathing better. I gotta say my back sweats no matter what pack I got on so can't help ya there. Is it any less from using a Duplex vs. Bikini? I can't say I have noticed. Both frames are great and you really can't go wrong. However, given how you described you'd be using it, I'd say save the weight and go with the Bikini frame.

Any idea when the Kifaru backorders will start shipping out? Still waiting on a back pouch, k connector lash kit, and k connectors to replace the buckles that shipped on my highcamp.

They've been shipping out for a while:)

You better give Angie or Ali a call and we'll get it shipped out today!

I finally got my pack dialed in and trimmed up. This is my Bikini T1 with a small hip belt, 26" flat back carbon stays, standard lid and everything Multicam. I trimmed only the snow collar, sleeping bag divider and the extra common loops in the bag. I also cut the four frame mounted hip belt stabilizer buckles off since they are used for when no bag is attached.

Pretty amazing total weight in my opinion at 5 lbs. 4 ounces. That's only 6 ounces more than the same frame setup with the Highcamp 7k bag and standard lid. The amazing part is that it's the exact same weight as my T1 with the same trim job!

My wait is finally over. I got home tonight to a big box waiting for me in the kitchen and the wife asking "What is that?".

Good to hear...I think you'll be very happy with it and glad in the long run you went with the more versatile Bikini frame over the standard T2 even though you think you'll never need another packbag. Congrats

I just order mine BT1 got my order ship date for july 15. All in MultiCam. Like to thank Aron for all his help making the decision final on BT1 vs straight T1. All this this done via telephone while after landing at the Airport. Now what else can I say but wicked customer service Thanks again Aron
