I took the trip down and tried on the packs. Great fit and seemed like a very quality product I bought bikini because it seemed like it would meet my needs better.

I'm the only person that has used one. Give it a couple more weeks and they'll start shipping.

Several people have met me at Kifaru to try them out and have ordered after. Some have already commented.

I've tried one on and also checked out the highcamp bags. I was very impressed and thought the bikini was very comfortable. I sold my DT1 and ordered the bikini and highcamp 7000

Trying on the highcamp with bikini frame at the Sheep Show was what sold me on this pack. Very well fitting pack. Can't wait to get it and throw some weight in it!

I was watching the videos Aron and Matt have done and I'm betting it will gain momentum as people get them in hand and use them in the field. In particular I watched Matt swing it on and handle it and I was very impressed by the torsional rigidity it seemed to have. To have the strenght to control the bag so well yet be so light is impressive. There are strong heavy packs and there are some very light packs but not many strong and light packs. After hearing comments from people who have used the duplex frame and tried on the bikini say the bikini is even more comfortable with weight is amazing. If all these first impressions hold up , the bikini is the new gold standard in packs :) !

What is the attraction of the dt1 over your long hunter bag and what size long hunter do you have ? The original long hunter looks to be a great design and I'm not so sure I like the fixed sewn in pocket design versus the modular pocket set up of the long hunter and the new high camp bags. In fact , I ordered the 4800 high camp but debated going with the long hunter or 7000 high camp bag. In the end I decided that 95% of the time I could get everything in a 4800 high camp and if I was going for more than five days I could add a pod or two or if it was going to be an epic expedition the cost of a new bag would be minor in the scheme of things. Just wanting to hear other thoughts and visions.

i need a couple little pockets, to contain my at-hand items so right now i run an xtl lid to accomplish that. i like the idea of the modular pockets but not a big deal. just need something so they dont end up at the bottom of my gear. my LH is the 5200 i believe. i have no problem fitting all my gear. trying to find a good spot for my spotter and tripod is a battle ive been fighting since i got it. i talked with aron and he says: "ya, i had that problem, thats why we came up with the timberline"

The main reason I like the Timberline series is because it has a place for the spotting scope.

I used to have a long hunter and now have a T2 and a bikini frame/T1 combo on order. At this point if you're going with a Kifaru pack you can't lose. It's really about how you like to organize and access gear. For ME, the Timberline series of bags is absolutely perfect. I'd rather have built in pockets then add a bunch of pouches hanging off. I also ran into the spotter / tripod issue and the Timberline series handles that perfectly.

One issue I always had with my long hunter was that gear for the day was hard to get to, i.e. puffy jacket, lunch, dinner for the eve, etc. Granted this was before the new belt pouch system. Even when I don't have a tripod and spotter I usually put my JetBoil, walking sticks (if needed), tarp, puffy jacket, meals in a ziploc for the day, all in the side spotting scope pocket. This way it's super easy (and quiet) to access all that stuff when needed.

For ME it's the perfect pack design. Things like TP, headlamp, gloves, powerbar, all the little things I need to grab and know exactly where they are when I need them go in the rear pockets. Possible pouch including FAK and maps in the lid.

Camera on the left hip, range finder on the right. If needed I can add a medium or large pouch on either side.

Gman , just different routes to the same place then. I'm going with hang on organization verses fixed as I like the ability to grow or shrink the pouches and pockets. I'm also talking to a local bike bag maker about making a custom fit spotter pouch to hang on the side or back. When I settle on a tripod and get my bag he will cut and sew one to fit the spotter and tripod together and match the attachment points. If it comes together I will snap some pics and post them. If it doesn't work so well then I'm right with everyone else.

Does the expanded meat shelf kit fit the Timberline bags?
I saw on Aron's video how the shelf can be attached both on the bottom and further up on the Highcamp bag. I am leaning toward the Timberline bag with the bikini frame and hope that meat shelf works the same on that bag. Anyone know?
