New developments coming this summer

Well crap. I just got some wrangler pants with a built in belt. Didn’t buy them for that but it became a nice feature, makes the pants stay in place evenly like joggers with an elastic waist.
I’m not the final authority by any means haha. Steve at Exo is a huge proponent, so clearly there’s something to it, at least for personal preference.

I think if I had to choose between an internal or a bulky leather belt, I’d go internal. Or as long as the built in belt was removable so I could run mine. (Which could turn out to be the case with the outdoor vitals version?)

@Brigham @ Outdoor Vitals the hand pockets on the pants, are they going to be cut more parallel to the waist or slash style where everything falls out?
The pockets are angled, but it's pretty moderate, not steep. Haven't had any reports of pocket items falling out. This is from a dozen testers, and hundreds of days afield. Prototype pictured below. IMG_4076.jpg

13 oz is no joke. I know there have been multiple threads on this topic, but if the Kuiu Kutanas (13.4 oz) had knee pad slots, they’d be the best selling pant on the market. Just a thought.

Here's a picture of our internal belt / waistband. Where we ended up is after multiple variations of fabric and belt webbing, with the intent of finding the right combination of fabric thickness and webbing thickness. As it is now, the belt thickness inside the waistband channel is pretty much the same as the thickness of the folded and stitched waistband fabric above and below the internal belt. It's all a consistent thickness so that it's hard to discern between waistband fabric bulk and belt bulk while wearing the pants.

UPDATE.

I mentioned this in the Rokcast episode with Sam today, but because of some slower than expected fabric production, we're planning on releasing all of these clothing pieces around the first week of September.

To be notified when these specific pieces are available, and to receive 10% off, you can opt in to receive emails specifically about this product line by following the link below. I will continue to add updates here on Rokslide as well.

By “releasing” do you mean “in stock” or just “taking orders”? I’ve shelved puffy shopping for the time being waiting on yours but I don’t want to be trying to buy some other puffy in late September/October when there are sales this summer if it turns out yours can’t get here in time. Just curious how realistic that early September time period is now. Thanks.

I have the same question… I’m super interested in the midlayer but am leaving Sept 21st for my elk hunt and would want it by then

That is super unfortunate. Have you thought about doing a pre-order/release on these products maybe specifically for Rokslide members and/or Hunt Backcountry listeners so we can guarantee they're here in time for September elk and later seasons?

Good questions guys. When I say "releasing", that means we will be shipping orders. We may decide to do pre-orders but that won't have any effect on when your purchase would actually ship to you, but it would "guarantee" you get what you want. As soon as the production shipment arrives at our office, we'll be shipping orders.

We're doing everything we can to get them here as soon as possible. I may have mentioned it earlier, but we are air-shipping a significant portion of these, at a much higher cost to us, so we can get them in your hands as early into the hunting season as possible. This is an important goal for us, and we are chomping at the bit to get them here.

Thanks for the clarification. I wouldn't expect pre-ordering to necessarily improve the arrival times to you; but if you're order #1 to be filled and shipped you would theoretically get your stuff faster than order #1000. Plus like you said it would guarantee you get what you want before they sell out.

From your guy's perspective I'd think it would be super helpful to get an early grasp on demand.

We appreciate you guys doing what you can to get these things to us ASAP!

Brigham thanks so much for taking the time to answer all of these questions. I’m really looking forward to buy and try every single piece I’ve seen here. One question, the internal belt pant i have run in the past are typically great initially but the belt starts to slip after a period of time. Usually this occurs quite quickly. Have you guys encountered this problem or done anything to prevent it? Thank you

Happy to answer as many questions as I can.

When you say the belt starts to slip, are you referring to the belt webbing slipping through the belt tensioner?

This isn't something that we've have reports of through all of the testing. We use a locking tensioner that basically clamps down in a locked position on the webbing as it is routed through the tensioner. It works very well.

Ahh yes that would probably solve it. Exactly, on the prana zions the belt webbing seems to slip though the “buckle” and I have to start pulling my pants up every so often.

Like another poster mentioned, I’m holding off on upgrading my puffy during summer sales in anticipation of buying the one y’all are producing. Is the issue that caused the delay something that could possibly cause further delays, or is this more of a one and done type of issue?

Also, kind of a silly question, but will the mid layer piece be all one color, or will the grid fleece be black (like on the recent Exo videos)?

The delay is just one specific fabric that is finishing weaving a little later than expected. Since all the pieces are made at the same place, we are shipping all of them here at the same time. It’s a one and done issue.

The pursuit hybrid fleece is all one color. Three different color offerings. What you have seen on Exo videos are prototypes.
