New Argali 3P Tent? Help Me Design it.

I'm curious on your freestanding preference...Our standard floorless shelters pitch quite a bit faster than a freestanding tent since there is no fussing with poles, and the pitch is easy because it's a rectangular shape. This tent will also be built off a rectangular design so the pitch is fast and easy. But, I know some people still prefer a free standing tent for perceived or real ease of pitching. Any insight on your preference for a freestanding tent if you have one?

If this were made in a UL freestanding option that would compete in weight with durstons new freestanding tent (2p) but allow a stove with 2+ (2 adults and toddler) I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I like the trekking pole shelters, but they are not easy above treeline and in nonflat terrain. Having one I could use solo in that terrain with or without stove and room for my wife and toddler would be awesome.

The ability to move a true free standing tent to the perfect spot to sleep and its ability to be put up in all environments is whats a draw for me. That and usually they are maximizing head space through out the shelter with higher angled walls than others.

No shelter is perfect for all scenarios- but like others have mentioned if you are in a place that requires a hot tent it’s assumed you will be carrying more weight and likely will prefer more room for drying gear and sleep area so most will favor bigger then smaller.

For specific preference- I like a true free standing as the semi free standing (BA Tiger Wall) in most cases only saves an ounce or two and although gives you maximize head space and steep walls- it requires a more specific spot to be placed or other means to hold the corners down (ie rocks).

It will be heavier than the rincon since it is a 3P tent, but not sure yet on the actual weight. Shooting for around 1.5-1.75 lbs.
