I'm looking into new appliances and was wondering what most people suggest/do. Our oven took a crap on us and I was debating on getting the oven by itself vs all new appliances. Is it better to get all new at once vs buy one at a time while they go out and try to match the colors? I have no issues buying them all at once, with that said i wasn't planning on spending over $5k on kitchen appliances.. I've seen what some people suggest on appliances, and they look awesome. But I cant spend $20k on appliances.

Last year we decided to upgrade all of ours. We went to Home Depot, the boss picked out the fridge, dishwasher, oven and sink she liked, and they delivered/installed everything. I kept the old (35 years) refrigerator to put in my shop. It was simple, and they had a 1 year no interest payoff plan. I did install the range hood; that was an all afternoon nightmare....

Is your range hood a ductless? Thats what we have now.

Buy a $1k oven and get what you/her/y'all want later when you can better afford all.

A few years back I had a house built by a great contractor. I decided the I would buy all the appliances myself. A friend had JennAire and I liked them so I bought a cooktop, oven/microwave combo and dishwasher. All were stainless and did a good job. They lasted about 10 years and when have to replace them all. On everyone of them the electronic controller took a dump. We also have a boiler for our radiant floor heat, I have replaced it too.....The electronics took a dump! All of the manufacturers said they didn't repair the electronics.

Ask the question....can I get the electronics repaired if I have problems? Check with your local appliance repair people and see what they say.

Speed Queen Commercial (if you can get them) for W & D. No computers, just mechanical parts from what I hear.

We just bought an LG fridge in Feb. after our 16 year old Whirlpool died. If we get 10 years out of the LG, I'll be thrilled.

We have a Bosch DW that we bought new in 2010 and it has given us zero problems. And I mean zero. I'm still gobsmacked by that. A Bosch fridge was a month wait so LG it was.

Our Samsung W & D was also bought in 2010 and the only problem with those was I replaced the drain pump in the washer about 10 years ago, which I think is excellent for a W & D.

Good luck,

Eddie

I also went with Speed Queen W&D and I'm amazed at the number of friends that come over and think I won the lottery because of said items and I just chuckle. When I was in the market for the W&D set I knew I wanted one with a agitator and did plenty of research before buying, buy once cry once kind of thing.
The other appliances I went middle of the road and nothing fancy, I'm not out to impress anyone with what's in my kitchen.

Kitchen aide washer/dryer
Whirlpool Gold oven/microwave combo
48" Jenn Aire gas cooktop.
Bosch dishwasher

Never had an issue with any of them. I've had multiple houses that we put Kitchen Aids in.
Bought a new freezer last year, that dam thing is so cheap and light I could load it in the bed of the truck by myself. I would not buy a TV brand (LG) appliance.
Gas cooktop and the oven/micro are the oldest in this house, 30 + years.

I spent 10k on ge cafe 5 years ago and they suck, replacing the dishwasher this week, fridge sucks. Range is okay.

I’d get meile for a dishwasher as they’re supposed to last 20 years.

Speedqueens are the best for washer/dryers.

Another vote for Costco. I believe they take away the old one and it’s included in the price of the new one.

We just got appliances for our new build house. GE gas ranges with GE built in hoods (two ranges side by side, cheaper than a 60"), Bosch dishwasher, whirlpool fridges, electrolux washer and dryer as we wanted front loading and speed queens front loads arent anything special. My mother in law has a speed queen washer and we prefer our electrolux after using both.

You need an oven, buy an oven. No need to replace everything else to match and keep up with the Jones'.
I second this.

Spend the money replacing the oven with the best you can afford. Try to get look for a scratch and dent discount for good value.

Can't speak much on oven brands but can definitely attest to the Speed Queen washer and dryer. I bought a set almost 15yrs ago, no complaints or problems.

We've had a Bosch dishwasher for 10 years or so that has been solid, no problems. We also have a Bosch oven for 5 years now that is great. Our Sub-Zero fridge, not so great. Stay away from SZ.
