As I've said in other threads, I have a VP215 with a 10" sealing bar. My only regret is not going larger with the 230 and 12" sealing bar as I use a lot of 6" wide bags. Being able to do 2 at a time is well worth it.

I use a lot of 10x15 for larger cuts. Remember you can and will use a bag longer than stated maximum for your machine when you stuff large roasts and things into the bag. You’ll need that extra length to be able to get the open end to lay perfectly flat for sealing. Any little wrinkle in the seam will leak.Is there another size or bigger size worth getting?
I use mostly 4 mil bags and I also order them by the 1000 from Vacuum Sealers Unlimited as they run free shipping on a lot of their bags every so often. No problems with the 4 mils. That bag selection should fit most of your needs. I also use 10X16 for my trimmings, I can get near 5 lbs in them.I ordered a thousand bags of each.

Is there another size or bigger size worth getting? I have the vp230 on the way and should be delivered today.
Also, these are all 4 mil bags. Any issues with 4 mil?

Check out the Vevor DZ 260.
We love ours. $300 and will seal 12" bags.
Lots of food processors and restaurants using them.
You're welcome!![]()

Folks looking for a chamber sealer need to check out jvr vac sealers too. Actual commercial grade machines, easy to service, spare parts readily available, and able to do retort sealing.
What's the cycle time?

I have the JVR Vac100. I recently made the switch after years of a Weston Vac sealer. Chamber sealers are far superior IMO for food storage.Just got a targeted ad from them. Any specific one you have experience with and prefer?

We have a USV20. The first one had a defective panel out of the box. It was quickly replaced with only a little bit of hassle. The second one has done a good job for around three years. We have done multiple big game animals, bulk meat purchases, and several bushels of roasted green chilies with it. The vacuum pump is starting to strain, so I purchased a replacement pump for $50. The old one will still pull 23" of vacuum at 6000', but it sounds like it is bogging down. We have ours set on about a 30-second cycle time. That may be more than is required, but I have not tried anything less.
Anyone have one of these? Been eyeing it because of the good reviews and lower price point.

We go through a lot of dried spices and the 5X7 are perfect as I can do 2 at a time of those. I just get the 3 mils as they are dirt cheap and we go through them quickly. You can search the interweb and buy bulk spices for about 1/10 of what you pay in the grocery store buying the little bottles.
