As I've said in other threads, I have a VP215 with a 10" sealing bar. My only regret is not going larger with the 230 and 12" sealing bar as I use a lot of 6" wide bags. Being able to do 2 at a time is well worth it.

I ordered a thousand bags of each.

10x12
8x10
6x10

Is there another size or bigger size worth getting? I have the vp230 on the way and should be delivered today.

Also, these are all 4 mil bags. Any issues with 4 mil?

How are you liking the 4 mil bags? Are the 5 mil worth sending 3000 bags back in exchange? lol

I use a lot of 10x15 for larger cuts. Remember you can and will use a bag longer than stated maximum for your machine when you stuff large roasts and things into the bag. You’ll need that extra length to be able to get the open end to lay perfectly flat for sealing. Any little wrinkle in the seam will leak.

I use a bunch of 3mil bags and don’t have any issues if you don’t bang them around. All of my sausages are in 3mil, stacked vertically in cardboard boxes and none have leaked. Stacked that way in boxes keeps them from getting knocked around.

Check out the Vevor DZ 260.

We love ours. $300 and will seal 12" bags.

Lots of food processors and restaurants using them.

You're welcome! 😁

I use mostly 4 mil bags and I also order them by the 1000 from Vacuum Sealers Unlimited as they run free shipping on a lot of their bags every so often. No problems with the 4 mils. That bag selection should fit most of your needs. I also use 10X16 for my trimmings, I can get near 5 lbs in them.

We go through a lot of dried spices and the 5X7 are perfect as I can do 2 at a time of those. I just get the 3 mils as they are dirt cheap and we go through them quickly. You can search the interweb and buy bulk spices for about 1/10 of what you pay in the grocery store buying the little bottles.

Folks looking for a chamber sealer need to check out jvr vac sealers too. Actual commercial grade machines, easy to service, spare parts readily available, and able to do retort sealing.

Just got a targeted ad from them. Any specific one you have experience with and prefer?

What's the cycle time?

Looked into this and am picking one up. Tough to beat for that price and that 12" bar to do two 6" bags seems like a good deal for processing hamburger pretty quickly. Thanks for the recommendation!

Buy a chamber sealer from Costco and return it when it breaks; that’s what my relatives from AK do…

I have the JVR Vac100. I recently made the switch after years of a Weston Vac sealer. Chamber sealers are far superior IMO for food storage.

Anyone have one of these? Been eyeing it because of the good reviews and lower price point.

We have a USV20. The first one had a defective panel out of the box. It was quickly replaced with only a little bit of hassle. The second one has done a good job for around three years. We have done multiple big game animals, bulk meat purchases, and several bushels of roasted green chilies with it. The vacuum pump is starting to strain, so I purchased a replacement pump for $50. The old one will still pull 23" of vacuum at 6000', but it sounds like it is bogging down. We have ours set on about a 30-second cycle time. That may be more than is required, but I have not tried anything less.

I think this is a solid price point alternative with reasonable customer support. Not having a serviceable vacuum pump indicates that it is a throwaway unit. (It is replaceable, but you can't change the oil) Knowing what I know now, I would take the "buy once, cry once" route if I had to do it over again. But as long as the USV20 keeps working at a reasonable maintenance cost I will run with it. I do wish we had purchased a larger unit.

Youtube is your friend. You could easily spend a week watching videos about vac and chamber sealers.
